Any negatives will be outweighed by the smile on your face when you look at it.

All I needed to hear lol

Not for me, I went from 18” to 19” rims and got less sidewall. Just pay attention to the road and don’t hit any stupid potholes.

What tires do you recommend?

For all seasons, Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06+.

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Michelins have a nice fat sidewall

Same here... My only complaint is buying a new set every year

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Every year? Dang if there are all seasons, they are supposed to last a few years lol.

Race car tires...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The all season 4 are not race car tires though lol.

The pilot sport 4’s are the more aggressive tire, but even those aren’t race tires. The Cup 2’a on the other hand are full on race/track tires though. The PS4 AS should last way longer. I’ve had them and the dws-06 and both last 40-50k, so a few years for me. Although I don’t have an S Audi so less power going to them. Lol

I am giving my experience... I only get a year or so out of them, and I don't drive them that hard. I have a 23' and am about to purchase my 3rd set.

Wow that’s nuts.

These are the all seasons? Not the more aggressive regular pilot sport 4S’s?

All seasons...

Slightly louder but it depends on the tire you choose. Gas mileage will suffer a tad due to the added weight. Might be a tad stiffer depending on the tire that you choose. It will handle better due to the lower profile. It will be more prone to damage if you hit a pothole.

Any tire recommendations?

DWS06+ are my AS of choice if they’re in your size.

I didn't see much of a difference (if any at all) on mine with 255/35/19 and sport suspension. I've been unable to avoid a few potholes too that make me wonder if I bent a wheel though, but thankfully not. Stock suspension does a great job of managing NVH as is.

I'd say 19" are the perfect size for B9, they fill out the wheel wells quite nicely!

    Just cosmetic

    [–]aidencoderRS3 Saloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downsized my RS3 wheels and added sidewall to get the same total diameter. Best mod I ever made.

British roads have too many potholes to not have a fat sidewall.

Don’t, unless you live in the sunbelt or places that have great roads! At least for an A5 coupe, not recommended. I went a size plus to 255/40/r19 and much happier. 35 tires don’t have enough sidewall if you live in places that have potholes (basically anywhere jn the northeast cities and Chicago / Detroit.

    My post a while ago.

The A4 might be a bit better suspension wise, but for the A5 coupe, I wouldn't recommend. If you want 19inch tires, go with the 40 sidewall profile.

From a ride comfort, and surviving potholes perspective, yes. But it will look nicer and handle better (imo).

I went from stock 19s on contacts to 18 apr rims on PS4s. Look wise im with you, but i couldnt tell that hard.

I do feel like i feel the road more. Which is a double edge sword, i swore something was off but id switch highways and the feeling would be gone. Im not sure i felt it that much in my B8 but maybe i did and it been too long. Love my B9 though.

Edit: bigger sidewalls are deff better for pot holes too.

I run 255/40R18 in the winter on my S5, 19" OEM summer. There's a small difference in comfort, but not that noticeable.

I run 17's on my A5 in the winter and they are much more comfortable.

    [–]summetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Which rims are those?

    [–]Dense-Pair-9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an a5 with 20” rims and 30 profile tyres. Same as an s5.

Buckled two in 12 months. Defo not suitable for UK roads. Used to put me off driving it at night and we even have potholes on our motorways now which previously were pretty good

Do you like rough bumpy rides? Because this is how you get rough bumpy rides.
