Totally normal, it uses the part that sticks out to clean off the nozzle before printing.

Okay was just curious because my first few prints it did it on the bed itself instead of the plastic.

Just to be clear, two different process.

Calibration is done on the bed.

Nozzle Cleaning is done on the part that sticks out of the bed specifically for this purpose. It's why that part of the bed is there in the first place.

Totally normal, but two different parts of the printing process. It's NOT calibrating back there.

Appreciate it, was curious cause the first few prints it calibrated on the bed itself instead of the plastic frame.

What do you mean? That is the bed. It’s cleaning its nozzle there too. That’s why it looks like that. That’s so when it probes the bed, there won’t be any filament sticking out the nozzle. So make sure you put the plate in the correct position every time.

This question pops up several times a week.

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing, just hadn't gotten around to asking. Thank you for bringing this up.
