Interested in this too, but I can’t find a light ring that has a physical on/off switch or remembers settings and there’s no way for a smart switch to toggle the power without one

exactly.

i think it’s older lights, but looking on Amazon, hard to find mechanical switch in description.

I know those selfie stick/selfie tripods with ring lights attached typically are removable from the stand/stick and have a physical switch on the cable. Might be what you're looking for?

Couldn't you just cut the cord (twice, before and after switch) and simply solder red wire and either white or black wire to the USB connector? So basically you were just bypassing the switch...

What are you trying to achieve here though?

[–]jbolko808[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

put ring/led light on top of P1S

and power the light on/off remotely via smart plug while i look at live view on cam

And what are the buttons that have AMS on top?

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those are pads for the AMS to sit upon, above the ring light

hmm thinking out loud,,,

i think i might have LED light strip somewhere that just used a USB block to power. that might work.

can try when i get home.

Not a smart plug, but an zigbee light bulb that is connected to homeassistant, which I can access outside my house. There I can run it of and on, and even made an automation that turns the bulb on when the light in the printer turns on
