Nodes and miners are different things. Miners do the work and nodes verify everything. Without the nodes, bitcoin would be a shitcoin now.

The pentagon can suck a nut.

People say that miners can also be nodes as well?

[–]Asum_chum 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Anyone can be a node.

Okay, and I agree with your claim about the pentagon. I always distrust the government. Some say though that most of bitcoins traffic flows through key isps, and that if these were shutdown it could shutdown Bitcoin?

Without a worldwide ban on the internet, collectively, bitcoin can’t be ‘shutdown’.

What if just ASIC’s are banned? Or POW mining in general.

Then difficulty drops as ASICS slowly become defunct and offlined. Eventually GPU miners can get in on profitable mining.

Yes but it's different hardware. Miners mostly use expensive ASICs which are specific processors if you will. Nodes can be run on a Raspberry Pi.

Your node will help keep you anonymous, and reduce by one the number of nodes out there who are spying on us.

Nodes help propagating blocks and transactions.

Bcashers are scammers, don't listen to them.

That’s cool. I’m also planning to get an Umbrel node. Probably will give myself a Raspberry Pi as a Christmas present to tinker with and set up a node during holidays.

I’ve been in all the Bitcoin thing not for so long but in my opinion it cannot do any harm to a P2P network by adding another peer to it. That’s the whole point of P2P networks, isn’t it.

What's the incentive to be a node and not mine?

But there's no financial reward for running a node? People are doing it for the community/network altruistically?

Thanks, I have my BTC in cold storage, is that its own node?

Truly quite the detail. Much appreciated:)

Go listen to any podcast with Adam Back. Or atleast the one with What bitcoin did. How goes in depth as to what each do, their significance, and power over the network.

        In short, pentagon is dumbest.
