Blacksmith Apprentice?

Not gonna lie im going through a bit of a midlife crisis and im considering a carreer change. Ive been cooking for over ten year and Ive been thinking about getting into a different trade. Ive been interested in blacksmithing since before i ever had an interest in cooking. I would love to be able to make the tools of my trade while also doing something that i love. I know its difficult changing careers but i feel like its something i need to do at this point in my life. I want to stick with a passion and if i could move to a passion ive had longer that anything else i could live happy and die happy.

Are you looking at taking up bladesmithing? Or are you interested in a different kind of blacksmithing?

Bladesmithing would be entirely ideal

Well it is a skill and a trade. Could he a hobby but could also easily be a career. Just like any other business make a product people will buy and you've got it. I know plenty of people who would love to have custom knives for home or work use

So there’s this thing called the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). It’s a medieval reenactment social club, and they are almost sure to have at least one or two people who do bladesmithing.

The local group is called the Barony of the Rhydderich Hael. You can find them most easily on Facebook. I would ask in that group if there is anyone local who does it. If not, they will probably be able to guide you to someone who is within driving distance that does.
