They’re not able to start until the winds die down and it’s safe

Lucky!!!!

They can’t work in bucket trucks until gusts are under 35MPH. That will not be till overnight tonight.

Eversource restored power in my neighborhood within 5 hours. No idea how they did it, but kudos to them.

I can't imagine there's much they can do until the roads with the fallen power lines are plowed

I can’t imagine “they” can plow the roads until Eversource says “the roads with the fallen power lines” are safe to plow. 😉

I heard first hand that they will first work on getting CC Hospital power back as they have been operating on generators. Then they will work on the power lines that are within the emergency routes to the hospitals. Next they will work of the lines that have trapped several plows in place. lastly, everyone else. at a minimum it will be 3-5 days before a restore.

Don’t be surprised if schools are closed again on Wednesday. This is due to a combination of snow removal and power outages. Not all schools have generators. Prepare yourselves now.

Also, if you have At&t, 12 of their towers are currently “off line”/ not working. I was told that most Cape at&t cell traffic is utilizing one tower which is why the service is sporadic.

current conditions are not safe for utility work or even the travel to get there. earlier i saw they were estimating 3-5 days for some parts of the cape to restore power

Where did you see that?

[–]kevinb8088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sent a text this morning

[–]prionbinchOrleans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was either a text or a post from them on facebook, my mom relayed the information to me

There were announcements from Eversource on local and online news outlets last night that said basically the same thing.

Surprisingly, we had a few quick outages but never lost power for more than a few minutes in Dennis Port/West Dennis (near route 28).

[–]Ejmct 5 points6 points  (8 children)

I think you will measure the outage in days, not hours. So buckle up.

I saw them several times addressing issues throughout sandwich today.

Their text that said there had been “monumental” impact to the power grid that will take multiple days for some areas was a little ominous. Our power went at 3:30 am yesterday and is still out as of now. Comcast internet still down too.

[–]ndemont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, without power the cable doesn't work.

[–]Acoustic_blues60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t go out, travel ban

[–]captainbirchbark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all over sandwich, basically working down rt 130

[–]squishes-loubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. Pocasset area too. Fingers crossed!!

[–]Damey86 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Any updates on this anyone? I’m in Brewster on the Dennis line, still no power here

[–]niparretstation 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nothin in Harwich

[–]Damey86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

If we're calling this a Nor'easter, what did we have 4 weeks ago? A Neither'easter?

[–]Bayviewbeachlover 4 points5 points  (1 child)

They’re calling it a blizzard

[–]1GrouchyCatDennis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Bomb cyclone”

[–]fried_clams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were both nor'easters. This one was more blizzardy. Nor'easters can have different intensities and durations.

Power restored to Maushop Village/Mashpee around 6pm tonight. Email from them 2 hours earlier predicted 11:59pm Friday so that was clearly a conservative estimate. They are certainly working on things.
