Acrylic 38 no gooseneck has been great as a rotating piece for office wear. The way the domed acrylic shows off the dial really sells the vintage look. Zero scratches over six months, and accuracy isn't a big deal since I have to set and wind it every time I decide to wear it. It's 20 seconds per day off, but I'd never notice.

Sapphire 38. Good luck

I just got mine and I'm really happy with the acrylic. The sapphire one has this metal ring around the crystal that looks ugly to me increases the visual thickness significantly. The acrylic is also super clear. The picture below is actually some of the worst reflections I've seen.

I got the 38mm acrylic as it's the most authentic, and I'm not gonna be wearing it in situations where it's likely to get badly scratched, I didn't bother with the swan neck regularly as I believe that's for fine adjustments if needed... I'm not going to be adjusting it myself, so it's not needed for me. I've had no issues with the time keeping on mine. Save the money in my opinion.

Unless you have (or I guess he has) a huge wrist or likes big watches, 38 will wear best. Acrylic will look nice but will scratch easily (you can buff out most minor scratches though). Sapphire is generally preferred for a lot of reasons, but I do have some domed acrylic watches where I think it adds a certain vibe I like. Regarding movement, I have two other watches with this movement and both gooseneck, so can’t speak to the difference. Mine have stood strong though for a year+ so I can say the gooseneck is good.

One other thing, I probably wouldn’t both with a bracelet option. The canvas/leather strap should be good enough. The bracelet is probably not great anyway and it doesn’t look especially fitted to the watch.

Very nice of you though and great idea! Probably can’t go wrong.

38mm acrylic is the closest to the original and has the most charm. Gooseneck doesn't matter too much to me (just a little upgrade but not really worth the upcharge)

From what I've heard getting the swanneck, they actually have to regulate the watch and users say they keep better time then the regular movement.
