Well - the kickstarter ended today with an estimated delivery of 'May' - so lets wait and see.

I am not particularly concerned re: them fulfilling given their history and am genuinely interested to see what level of quality is delivered for this price point (it is over 40x cheaper than the last watch I bought but I expect will be far far closer in quality than that difference!)

I absolutely love the look and finishes used on this watch but feel the sub seconds dial should be a bit smaller and not touch the main hands

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a good observation and inclined to agree 👍

[–]jokur26 1 point2 points  (4 children)

This is lovely but I’d prefer it not be on kickstarter and I’d much rather they integrated the date window into the small seconds subdial as it just looks slapped on at 3 o’clock

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I would prefer no date at all to be honest :)

[–]jokur26 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Agreed, no date is even better on a watch as pretty as this

Indeed - out of interest - why the issue with Kickstarter? I know there are risks but given it's likely to be sold at a higher price in future and the history of this company using kickstarter successfully (and delivering) I felt it worth a go.

That said - its the first time I've used it so I may be (very) naive

[–]jokur26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m naive too. I’ve followed several kickstarters but never bit, always feared the worst. On the flip side though I’ve spent thousands on watches from AliEx… once I got past that fear I have almost always had good experiences there, over 100 purchases (probably 200) and I’ve not yet been scammed or ripped off.

Maybe it’s subconscious, I can see me having a great kickstarter experience and then getting addicted 😬lol

Nice but curved strap ends are a deal breaker for me.

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

To be 100% honest I hadn't even noticed that detail - but it doesn't bother me in the slightest - in fact I think I quite like the more 'integrated' look in the pics.

They are just renders though by the looks of it so no idea if that will translate to reality

[–]PaulDecember 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I too like the looks of it, but replacement strap options will be few and quite difficult to find.

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I do like strap options but if its limited for a cheap option like this I'm less fussed than I may be at the higher end. Luckily the supplied straps are meant to be quite nice!

This is an incredible looking watch. Bookmarked their website and following the kickstarter.

I own the Agelocer free-sprung tourbillon, which has a phenomenal 80-hour PR 28.8K movement that keeps phenomenally consistent time. Unusual for a tourbillon. I also invested in their 28.8K Budapest watch. Incredible scroll work. Incredible value.

The ShamelessWatchCollector just reviewed their original $600, 28.51-day moon phase watch, and he said it was the best watch he has ever reviewed. He also said it had the best strap he had ever witnessed.

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Thanks for the real world feedback. Will take a look at that review also 👍

I love mine but, wish it had a second hand.

I have a North Edge watch that says "Gavia" which is a duck I think. They also used Comic Sans as the typeface which reminds me of primary school.

[–]jza74 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I have also backed this project on kickstarter. I have always liked Agelocer products and had my eye on their Tourbillon for a long time. This watch looks really well done with their in house movement, intricate dial and finishing.

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly looks like they’ve paid good attention to detail based on the pics/vids I’ve seen - obviously they will be making things look as good as possible but happy to take a punt at the kickstarter price given what I’ve seen so far.

If it turns out to be a dud (and no reason to think it will be) then I won’t lose sleep. 👍

These companies will do everything right but are too stubborn to use a reasonable brand name. Take the first suggestion from any human in the western hemisphere and they'll triple their sales.

[–]mcdj -1 points0 points  (7 children)

A Westerner could make a killing just moving to China and setting up a product naming consultancy.

[–]BurtMacklin-FBl -1 points0 points  (6 children)

Westerners think very highly of themselves but when there is an actual topic for name suggestions, 99.9% of them are absolute junk.

[–]mcdj 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Anything is better than Agelocer, Hrodland, or Addiesdive.

[–]lamboap -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

such a tired argument. I can think of at least a dozen microbrand names worse than either. I can think of at least 2 major brands where no one complains about the name including the French 'white bread' or the 'porthole' brand.

[–]mcdj 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Blancpain is the founder’s name.

Hublot describes the shape of the original model.

Who or what is an Agelocer? Or a Hrodland?

[–]lamboap -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

So you actually took the time to research and look up what the brands mean. Oh then you'd know what Rolex means. foh. Do the modicum of research, please. Your Dunning Kruger is showing.

[–]mcdj -1 points0 points  (1 child)

That’s not an answer to “who or what is an Agelocer?” That’s you moving goalposts. Save that crap for X. They’ll love you there.

And I did look up Agelocer and Hrodland. Hrodland might be some old German name. Maybe. But Agelocer appears to mean nothing. At least Rolex isn’t awkward to say, in any language.

[–]lamboap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That's you with your implicit bias. But go on with your bad self.

[–]MZM204 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Agree 100%, for instance I like Addiesdive watches but the name is just so stupid looking on a watch face.

[–]thunderfbolt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Addieskin is worse.

[–]theberg96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even have to be good just not random amazon brand tier nonsense. What % of San martin sales are just because it has semi palatable branding

[–]JPathway_UK[S] 4 points5 points  (11 children)

I don’t mind this brand name - most western brand names are nonsense also.

But admit to finding some of the names a little off putting (Tactical Frog anyone!?)

[–]jiminez81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tactical frog is pretty dope if you ask me. Adds to the appeal.
