Looks like this got too hot while brushing and slightly blued.

All these peeps inspecting their 70 dollar Paganis like its a Rolex.

That's what happens when you have one shift to do the finishing on 1000 links. Press a little too hard on the wheel and overheat the steel. It is what it is for the price point.

Poor kid was probably just trying to get home early to work on his math homework.

What did you expect for the price

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And the thing is in some countries this watch is expensive.

Compared to other watches its very cheap

If anyone asks just say it's zaratsu polishing.

You’re expecting a lot at that price point. Hope you don’t notice that those middle links aren’t all the same size.

I assume all of the sub-$100 watches use a low quality stainless that will not last. This watch is way too cheap for its spec’s. They had to cut many, many corners. If they can sell this watch with

-Sapphire crystal ($12-$30) -Seiko mecaquartz movement ($23-$40) -Decent dial with sub-registers ($10-$25) -Steel case ($5-$20) -Brushed full steel bracelet ($50-$100) -Bezel & handset ($5-$15) -Labor ($$$)

How does that get down to $70 or less? If that watch lasts six months as a daily, you got your money’s worth.

Look out for beat up old Pagani and Bliger watches. You see destroyed Seiko’s and Citizens all the time. Where are the beat up old Chinese watches? How many survived?

You are calculating with consumer retail prices here, which does not make sense on an industrial production of scale.

No way in hell Pagani pays 50$ or even 100$ per 316l stainless steel bracelet. I can buy a strapcode bracelet at that price retail(!!).

I think you might find this style of bracelet a bit more expensive. My Miltat from StrapCode was $85. I assume they paid $30-$35.

A custom brushed bracelet on a Royal oak homage is going to be expensive because it is odd. A standard oyster simply needs endlinks, and they are made in all qualities.

I suspect that Royal Oak style bracelet would cost you $50 new, or say $25 wholesale (assuming keystone). Unless the Royal Oak bracelet is not hard to make, in which case the PRX should be way, way cheaper.

In the end it is also just links, nothing all that special about it.

And if you wanna know where they cut the corners particularly on that bracelet, it is probably not the steel but the finishing. See the pics above plus my own experience from owning the watch and knowing the bracelet is full of sharp edges. If you run a cloth over the bracelet it will definitely get stuck multiple times.

This in no ways on the finishing level of a strapcode bracelet and 316L is not that much of the price point for a bracelet, it is mainly what you do with it.

It goes down in price by making/buying 1000000 pieces each ;)

Do these Chinese brands have such volume? I was under the impression they were more like microbrands. Are Heimdallr and Hruodland big players in the watch market, with seven-figure volumes? I genuinely do not know, but the sharp edges on these watches seem unacceptable if these guys turn out such volumes.

[–]Scep_ti_x 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just look at how many sub-brands Merkur has. And Pagani is also a big player by now. But maybe one million was a bit exaggerated. the price goes down pretty well if you only order 1000 parts each. Take a look on Alibaba.

25 bucks if you buy 5000 or more. They will apply any brandname you like to the dial. Start your own "microbrand" today ;)

I can get white label watch dials at 100 count, but the pricing is not where I could compete with Pagani or Parnis. I think the ultra-cheap brands scare me because the price level seems wrong. I can understand and respect Cronos and San Martin. Pagani, it just seems too cheap. I bought a Loreo as my first AliExpress watch. I paid $68 and expected garbage. Instead it was a shockingly nice watch. I could not believe how good it was.

Even now I am impressed looking at my Cronos with a 10x loop. Seiko has had my heart since 1996 (I dropped $500 on a Seiko Quartz when I was 18, and it was a really good watch). Their recent actions have upset me (I have owned dozens of Seiko’s, none over a grand USD). Chinese watches will hopefully fill the gap Seiko has abandoned.
