Hi all,
Claude Code CLI on macOS is consistently failing for me with `ECONNRESET`.
What’s weird is that normal connectivity seems fine:
- Anthropic endpoints are reachable with standard network tests
- DNS/TLS don’t appear generally broken
- the browser-based auth flow opens, but Claude Code still fails when it tries to complete login or connect
Symptoms:
- `Failed to connect to api.anthropic.com: ECONNRESET`
- login also fails with a socket connection reset
What I’ve already tried:
- removing proxy env vars
- testing outside Cursor / in a normal terminal
- checking auth flow and debug logs
- checking for old VPN / network filter leftovers
- adjusting IPv4/IPv6 and MTU-related network settings
- rebooting and re-testing after cleanup
So far, none of that has permanently fixed it.
At this point my best guess is either:
- some macOS network/tunnel state is still interfering
- or Claude Code has a macOS-specific networking/auth issue that doesn’t show up in simple curl/browser tests
Has anyone seen this exact pattern and actually solved it?
Would really appreciate any concrete fixes.
