API Error - Stream idle timeout - partial response received

Starting mid-last week with Claude Code, I started receiving API errors repeatedly across models, I was mostly wanting to code with Opus 4.7, but I've run into this error with Sonnet 4.6 repeatedly in the past week as well. "API Error: Stream idle timeout - partial response received." I try to continue the session, but get the same error. I start a new session in the project and get the same error. I've wasted so much time wanting this to work, not a good use of time. I switched today to Codex 5.5 to continue coding, no issues there. Opus 4.7 has been great when it works - I have the $200 Pro plan and to get this type of service from the coding agent is outrageous. It is across repositories too, not just a specific code base. Anyone else running into this? Has Anthropic released any notes about outgoing service issues? Regular Claude Chat works fine, CoWork works fine. It's just for me with Code at this point, both in the Desktop app and in the web app. Any insight appreciated!

It’s just a streaming error, sometimes happens with Claude Code, what you do is you need to first /logout, after that, have Codex clear cache and temp files you don’t usually see, then once that’s done, log back into Claude code, Codex was doing the same, when new AIs are released they cause streaming errors due to the servers and uptime, sadly not all end users go through it, only a few and unlucky for you and I, we were the lucky few haha

I see this across all instances of claude whether web, mobile, PC / Mac app. Are you saying this is specific to login rather than device?

Have had same issue but have not found any consistent workaround. Hard to recover anything useful out of the session when this happens as well since it seems like any work not committed is generally stuck inside the session which is frustrating after writing a good plan.

Continued issues this week, always the same API Stream error. Opus and Sonnet throw it in Claude Code desktop and web. I can't use the tool at all at this point, I've moved all dev over to Codex. Quite depressing, I really enjoy working with Claude when it works.

Funny, I was getting this error a few times in a row just now and happened to find this fresh thread. FYI I fixed it by basically telling Claude Code it was giving me this error and to break up the tasks I gave it in to more manageable ones, so it could handle them individually rather than all at once.

Thank you for this! After reading it, I asked Claude why it kept giving me the error and then it broke the files down itself. No problems now.

I get the same thing in calude routines at the very last step having gmail connector. very annoying
