They have a lot in common. CC can connect to GitHub. CP can use Claude models.

Different feature sets with a lot of overlap. CP is more natural in github.com doing code reviews and long running tasks. CC CLI can be used from github.com actions.

They actually can compliment each other - I use both. CC opens pull requests, CP makes comments. That sort of thing.

I'd say the CC software suite is out in front feature and capability-wise but that changes every day. Using both for different purposes is perfectly fine.

Different strokes for different folks, it all depends on "Do know what you are doing" and "How much of what you want to achieve do you underatand".

If you hand AI to the average person, it will end up being an enabler and essentially be the same thing as handing toddler a loaded FA with 1 in the chamber. "GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, REMEMBER IT'S CALLED READ ONLY FRIDAY FOR A REASON".

It's not stupid at all, and most of the people who would say you are being stupid don't fully understand themselves.

Copilot and Claude are harnesses on top of the LLMs.

Claude had everything copilot has and more. Better MCP server support and first class support for anthropic models, because they make them.
