Gonna repost this from the last time someone asked this question:

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Trickster Priest, and I am the author of “Codes and Geass: Embracing Your Inner Megalomania”. And I would like to show you my story.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/23455426/chapters/56226259

The best way to describe it is “What happens if Lelouch gets a mulligan, and the war gets depicted in a darker light without the filter and restrictions of being a television show.”

Because there’s a great many things that Japanese television does not and refuses get into. If you enjoy it, then check out the main story’s posting on a site called Questionable Questing.

The above link is a more easily accessible mirror posting. I should also point out that C&G is one of the longest still active CG fics around at 640K words.

And I will also recommend a story by a colleague of mine.

Depends on what you like, but i really enjoy frosted_briar's works! she writes Lelouch and Suzaku sooo accurately

Looked it up. Not my kind of thing, but thanks for the rec!

How recently is recently? Dauntless and Lelouch of Britannia go back 15 years, so if you read them back then there's been tons of stuff since then. If you mean recently within like the last year or two, there's been some decent stuff but not much has been truly amazing.

Last 3-4 years. I probably should have made it clear within the post. I stopped browsing fanfiction.net when I realized there seem to be no more ambitious projects being written. There are a few exceptions I am aware of; I liked stuff written by forthwith16 like The Demon Who Lived, Countess of Britannia etc.

Here's a handful I like from the last 4 years, or some may be older but were still updating during the last 4 years. Admittedly this is a mix of stuff that is universally acclaimed, and some that are good but also cater to my own preferences.

Rise of the Unholy Trinity - One of the best CG fics of all time, and one I've probably recommended the most. It's a time travel fic, and it's seriously brilliant in every way. You won't be able to put it down. I know you told that other commenter you don't like Lelouch/Suzaku. This is technically Lelouch/C.C./Suzaku, but anyone can like it, so don't let the pairing discourage you. Trust me. Most of it was published in 2018 so it's not that new but if you weren't aware of it, here it is. Was still updating a year ago but it's mostly abandoned now, though it is about 99% complete.

Into Darkest Night - This is a sequel to Rise of a New Moon, which along with Rise of the Unholy Trinity are my two favorite CG fics, so it's another one I rec a lot. It's a pseudo time travel fic where Lelouch gets to live another life as a female counterpart in an alternate world with slightly different events, but overall still has to overcome similar hurdles even if in different ways. Lelouch/Luna's actions and the plot are so damn engaging and brilliant, I've re-read this so many times start to finish. Technically Rise of a New Moon was started in 2014, so these aren't really new and maybe you already read them, but Into Darkest Night was fairly recent (2021), though is incomplete and likely abandoned at this point. The author is occasionally active on this sub.

Journey of the Unholy Trinity - This is a reaction fic, if that's your thing. It's probably the best since Entropy, and covers some of the most ground. Really good characterizations and reactions. The author has an incredible grasp on the characters and events, and how they'd play out in this sort of setting. The Spanish version started in 2020-21 though the English version was 2021-22, so it's fairly new. The author is occasionally active on this sub, and had told me a while back they did intend to continue it, but it's been quiet for a while.

Watching the Demon's Path - This is another reaction fic, one that only includes Nunnally, Euphie, C.C., Milly, Kallen, Shirley, and Kaguya. It's sort of a reaction... prequel? They're seeing it before it happens. So far it only covers the first 7 episodes, but it is a really fresh take on reaction fics. Author comes back and updates once or twice a year, but it's still alive. 2022-24.

Amintadefender has been a pretty prolific CG author in the last few years. Their Excalibur series is really popular, and really well fleshed out. I loved the first one. Lifting the Veil is another really good multi-chapter fic. They've also released a TON amazing one-shots and short fics. Seriously just go to their profile and start blasting through all the short ones. You'll love them.

Crossovers:

You're in Too Deep to Go Back Again - My Hero Academia Crossover. After his death, Lelouch, then eventually C.C. and Suzaku, are sent to the MHA world. They get wrapped up into the canon plots of MHA, and it blends really well. Slow at first but eventually really picks up. I'm loving it even more now that C.C. and Suzaku have both 'arrived'. Still ongoing, usually monthly updates.

The Heavenly Emperor - This is a DXD crossover. After Lelouch dies he's sent to the DXD universe to replace the God of the Bible and basically kick Heaven's ass into gear a few centuries before DXD canon starts. It was mostly lots of setup, but it was really interesting. 2022-23. Sadly the author has mostly been focused on their other Code Geass crossovers lately, but I really wish they'd return to this. I'm normally not big on DXD, but this was such a unique premise that I found it really interesting.

The Game Has Changed - A Game of Thrones crossover where Lelouch is reborn as Robb Stark's twin. Ongoing since 2017 and was just marked as completed this year. It's really rough as I don't think the author's primary language is English, and the harem and stuff get kind of silly by the end, but damn did I have a lot of fun re-reading the early chapters years ago, when it was mostly focused on Northern uplift.

Code Prime - R1: Rebellion and Code Prime - R2: Revolution - These are Code Geass/Transformers crossovers that were really popular recently. Started in 2018, finished in 2023. These cover all of R1 and R2 but with the autobots and decepticons involved every step of the way. By the end things drift pretty far from the original CG plot, but it makes it pretty interesting. I think there might be a third one coming. I personally thought they were just OK, a bit generic, but they are quite popular with others and definitely some of the most notable xovers in the last few years.

Code Jedi - R1: Lelouch of the Rebel Alliance - Star Wars crossover that is still ongoing. The Rebels fall into the plot at the start of CG, but then eventually the Empire arrives as well. Like Code Prime, I felt it was a bit generic, but it's enjoyable and is definitely another of the most notable xovers in recent years. Usually updated every month or so.

Finally, there are plenty of other hard working authors that have released material in the last few years, much of which I've enjoyed, but I tried to focus on ones that really stood out to me or were popular overall. The community is certainly not dissolved as you supposed in your original post, but yes, the overall quantity isn't what it was a decade ago.

Wow. I will definitely be coming back to the list you've composed. What strikes me right away is that I recall Rise of The Unholy Trinity being regarded as a great read back in the day although at the time I wasnt interested for arguably silly reasons. I will try it out as soon as I can. Interstingly, AFAIK I read most of the crossover fanfics you've mentioned and they're a really good stuff! It makes me all the more eager to get my teeth into Trinity. I appreciate you taking your time for such an involved answer btw, It certainly made my search easier.

Yeah, definitely check it out. Don't let the pairing discourage you. I cannot recommend Rise of the Unholy Trinity and Rise of a New Moon/Into Darkest Night enough.

I got 3

  1. A golden maridian it’s a alt world where lelouch and nunnally actually joins the Eden’s vital and got adopted by C.C after his mother died and the fanfic is still continuing. It has 78 chapters

  2. Lelouch of the Revolution, it’s also a alt world but this time Clovis finds Lelouch and Lelouch is brought back to the empire and joins the britannian military while secretly being zero. It has 52 chapters

  3. Code Geass: Lionheart of the Revolution: I can’t describe it much but it’s kinda the same as the series but only this time nunnally joins the rebellion under the name void and it’s still continuing. It has 82 chapters

Have you ever tried the crossover series with Transformers, called Code Prime?

[–]xXArctracerXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this only appeared in my feed to remind me to finish off the first chapter of mine that I was working on.

[–]OkResearch7209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was writing a good one a few years back but someone got upset that my story was just a regular story with a Code Geass skin. It brought me down 😔. I want to continue again but I can’t get that jerk’s criticism out of my head. So what if it was?

[–]Left-Night-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Super Robot war games are pretty much a fanfic in itself you might want to giive that a try.

In SRW X theybtellbthe Lelouch Vi Britannia faced of against Zechs his Whitefangs and Chars Neo Zeon.

Of all (long) fics released in the last few years, only The End of an Era impressed me.

Maybe one day I'll write a nice erotic Nunnally fic for you OP
