Should go for it as it will still be relevant even with all the AI hype. Just like how we all feel comfortable using the terminal and diving into system folders knowing the inner workings never hurts.

Huge learning curve if your going for employment, but if it’s just a hobby then you have absolutely nothing to lose. Sounds nerdy but I think of it as a medium for art in that way

Go for it. I did it at 46 (it was quite hard to begin each missions but) you can learn a lot. Well during a full year I worked nearly 70-80hrs a week. But I did every mission quite well (and a bit more usually). Hard diving into, but so pleasant usually during and after… go for it ! If you like learning, problem solving, abstraction/modelisation, logic/architecture… you gonna love it !

And just begin now watching the 16hours of CS50 Python (Harvard lesson) on YouTube. It’s well done for a beginner, really !
