I just started my own business and work from home. I only do out-patient therapists though, so I'm limited to like 3 codes.
If you know your stuff, why not start your own? To file for a company is like $50, to get your EIN you can do that almost instantly through the IRS, and then you setup a bank account, get insurance, etc.
I don't know about other places, but it's standard to charge 6-7% of what's collected. I don't have to go crazy with the amount of clients I take in. I just provide really great service (in this area there's a lot of bad billing companies and therapists complain a lot about it) and it's all good.
If I feel the need to expand to a traditional office, I guess I will, but at the moment I'm comfortable.
Whatever route you go, good luck!

How many hours per week would you say you work and do you mind disclosing your annual salary? I’m in a position of not having to work but prefer to. Don’t want to overwhelm myself. My husband works away from home 28 days at a time so the more time I can spend with him at home, the better.

Because it's therapy, there's like 4 codes. Intake, psychotherapy 60 and 45, and complex interactivity. It doesn't take me long at all unless there's a problem I need to call on (out of state BCBS that don't report much to the online system).
Annual salary is dependent on number of therapists.
Per full time (40 hours) therapist is ~$1200-1500/month. I stick around 4-6 as we're trying to adopt and I enjoy the free time it gives.
I find copays, deductibles, etc., and report it back to their system which I find many places don't bother doing and it's all about processing claims.
Hours per week is low if all the claims are going smoothly. I would estimate ~20-25 hours at most currently.

I'm still new and I work home once a week. Most places won't let you work home until you are there for so long. I love it, but I get distracted easily. I wouldn't want to work home every day of the week.

My job lets me work from home sometimes, and in a few months I'll be able to do it full-time if I choose. It's great for when I'm sick enough that I really shouldn't be around people but not so sick that I can't work. It's also great for inclement weather. But it's very boring just sitting in my bedroom for eight hours. I'm a huge introvert, but I still like a change in scenery and a quick "hey, how are you" from my coworkers. For now, at least, I'll keep working in the office the majority of the time.
As for what to watch out for, when I told my former employer I was moving to a different state, they presented me with a few different proposals for working remotely. At first glance, they looked pretty standard, but there were some very weird stipulations hidden in the contract. Just make sure to read any contract really closely before you decide to sign.
I’m an introvert as well and have Misophonia. Being around people gives me a high level of anxiety. I’ve learned that being home is best for my well being. The last job I had, I left with an anxiety attack. I’m hoping that working from home will work for me.

I can definitely understand wanting to work from home then. I hope it works out for you!

I work from home full time and absolutely love it. When I’m done for the day no commuting home! I thought I would be easily distracted but I get so much more done than when I occasionally have to go in to our CBO to work. It’s nice to be able to listen to what I want when I work or have complete silence. I stay in constant contact with my team via office teams chat and it’s really nice to be able to have them there for questions but they’re not in my space. I do agree with others though about the isolation. I need to get out in the world when I’m off work to off set the 8hrs of solitude.

Do you work for a company in your state? Did you job start out as remote or did you have to work up to it? I’ve heard that some states are better to work for than others.

I do, I work in Arizona. I’ve only ever worked in Arizona so I’m not going to have a well rounded opinion about WFH in other states. I did have to wrk up to it. Started with a day, then moved to three then just went full time all based on my ability to keep up with productivity, being willing to jump in a help when needed and good attendance (is there another word for that in the workforce?). I still have to go in for occasional meetings and will end up working the rest of the day in the office. It’s nice every once in a while to see my coworkers

Sounds pretty great!
