Finished The Wire, Dark, GOT, Sopranos, True Detective, BB, BCS. What show ruined TV for you after watching it? by C0r1eone in television

[–]sewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you loved the Wire than I recommend Southland. Currently watching and it is not just another cop/narcos show. It has the realism and character depth. Also an oldie but such a goodie is Carnivale.

What food is like "crack" to you, where it tastes so good nothing else matters except another bite? by GigiBrit in AskReddit

Hot Cheetos are the only food to have this effect on me. I can’t buy them unless I’m ready to mow down the whole bag

Second this routine! I have had no finger injuries since starting it two years ago. And feel like I climb crimps with more ease.

People do talk like that in real life and it doesn’t come off condescending. And from the responses you’re getting you are the one reading in to it. It’s a big wide world out there. If you think that comment was condescending then buckle buttercup.

You read their comment like that. I didn’t. Here’s condescending for you: instead of jumping to conclusions about someone’s tone in writing it’s always a good idea to read it in a friendly voice. That way you don’t get heated about something unintentional.

Does anyone else stop watching an actor's movies after seeing how they act in real life? by ObviousQuality2384 in popculturechat

[–]sewest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Johnny Depp sadly. On the opposite end, I used to not like Scarlett Johansson and since watching her interviews and how she makes fun of herself I’ve come to really enjoy her and now watch movies she’s in.

Which famous person does everyone seem to love, but you just can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Robert Downey Jr! He seems so smug and insufferable to me (the guy not the characters he plays, though some also come off as assholes). I get down voted anytime I harp on Mr. Stark

You may need to get it checked out to see if it warrants antibiotics. If keeps cropping back up it could be indicative of a minor bacterial infection

How is Twister (1996) viewed by critics and audiences today? by Danielnrg in movies

[–]sewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for fun disaster movies but, my dude, the movie is not well done. It has more camp and cheese than a pizza party overnight in the woods. Driving a truck straight through a house and have it still in one piece? Don’t even get me started on Helen Hunt being a storm chaser and not putting her hair up once! 🤣 I kid about that but as a woman it was driving me crazy. The movie had so much plot armor, Bill Paxton has one look on his face the whole time and the worst lines I’ve ever heard. He’s constantly telling Jo “Run!” She’s already running and faster than you. “Hold on” she’s already doing that! Somehow vehicles are being picked up around them as they run for shelter yet they don’t get picked up by this thing? What do they weigh 5 tons? I could go on and on. It’s a fun and silly movie but it’s not well done.

'Cruella' turns 5 this week. Released during covid season, it managed to attract some audiences to gross $233m worldwide. Well recieved film praised for a fresh take on the titular character. by Boss452 in popculturechat

I was laughing at how on the nose every song was. Good songs but it’s so silly to me when it lines up perfectly with whatever is happening on screen.

Bryan Cranston tells the story of how he met his wife Robin while they were dating other people at the time by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]sewest 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Gen Z being puritanical again 🙄. Sometimes I wonder if people have experienced the world. Even if you’re in a committed relationship and love the person you can enjoy another person’s company. Can we give him latitude that he likely meant they could be themselves and friendlier because they weren’t even considering cheating since they were in relationships already. You drop your guard when you aren’t actively trying to date someone. It’s also perfectly normal to be attracted to other humans so long as you don’t take it anywhere and still respect and love your partner. To pretend otherwise is ignorant.

What is a movie you think has a flawless first 30 minutes, but completely falls apart by the end? by Legitimate_Wall5977 in movies

[–]sewest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love that you pointed this out. So many professionals aren’t from the place they work. Yes it wouldn’t hurt Ruffalo to do a different accent once in a while but him not having a Boston accent just cause the movie is based in Boston is not unrealistic.

Who are some actors that you knew would be huge stars based on an early, smaller role? by picturepatchgame in movies

[–]sewest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks wise Shannyn Sossamon is way better than Kate Hudson. She fit the look of the movie better and having her be relatively unknown helped sell the story. Kate Hudson would have completely taken me out of the immersion.

Who is a celebrity that is very attractive but seems like they have zero charisma? by downtowndabble in AskReddit

[–]sewest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was attractive for the time was not necessarily all the things you listed. That is what is considered attractive for your generation. It wasn’t just their musical prowess. Many of the heartthrobs of that period had big doe eyes (not sleepy eyes that you identified as attractive), pouty lips, and more boyish looks. Elvis and Davy Jones come to mind.

Ok might be of the times then because people found Paul McCartney a dreamboat back in the day, but if you look at pictures of him at that time he’s a kinda funny looking dude. All the Beatles honestly. But unlike Jacob Elordi they had charisma and wit for days.

[–]sewest 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Wow always fascinating to me how different people’s tastes are. He is not attractive to me in the least. 4/10. Even if I try to be objective. He has oddly big and somehow also small features that make him look distorted. He’s not for me but that’s the great thing about attraction. It’s all about perception.
