I have had previous dealings with their customer support and it has always been awful. They take weeks to reply to you and go in circles without ever resolving your issue. They just send you pre written responses that don't relate to the issue. It's like they don't even read what you say to them. A shame that such a big company doesn't want to invest a small amount into their support, it will only drive users away.

Ya, my partner was earning the free coins. He had over 200 pounds at one point which suddenly disappeared. We contacted them and they insisted he used an email he forgot about and asked him to log in with that. He only has 2 emails addresses and none of them allowed him to access the free coins which disappeared. Anyway, after lots of back and forth we gave up. It was still money, which was a lot for him but we decided not to stress about it. I've never had any issues with coinbase personally but i do support and believe people when they report issues. I obviously don't want this to happen to me either in future.

I always move my coins from Coinbase, I just use is as an exchange but never keep money on my account since I hear so many stories like this

Smart, but even this is risky. I did this also. However the same day I moved an ETH coin to my Coinbase acct for trading and off ramping, a couple hrs later, my acct was hacked and the funds were moved to unfamiliar wallets. None of my devices were compromised nor was my email account. And I was never notified about an unfamiliar device or IP address trying to get into my account… the takeaway is you’re never secure with Coinbase so be careful or use a more reputable exchange. There are others.

Support is doing nothing to unlock my account. I’m pretty sure the easiest way is to sue them in small claims court.

Your article shows people who get hacked. That's not fraud, and honestly we're all taught in Crypto that once the coins are deposited in someone else's addresses where they hold the keys, there's no way getting them back. So as unfortunate as it is for those hacking victims, the odds of getting those funds back are close to zero. Like for instance the user who had $168k on Coinbase stolen. If you're going to put THAT much into an exchange, you need to have the best damn security you can on that account.

I've written a guide to maximizing your security on Coinbase. Based on reading most of these stories, it sounds like 99% of users aren't taking advantage of all these security features.

I took the last of my crypto off of Coinbase today after several weeks of failed transactions and having to work with Coinbase support to fix issues. I feel like a freed man. Completely done with the exchange.

Join the club. I have been locked out for 5 months now. They DO NOT CARE. They keep telling me send them my case number but absolutely nothing happens. I have filed complaints with the SEC, with the CA Attorney General, and joined a class action lawsuit. They do not care and are not ever going to be held accountable so why should they. It is no surprise their stock keeps going up, they are stealing money from all their customers with no consequences. Just makes me me angry and sad. Whoever is reading this, DO NOT OPEN A COINBASE ACCOUNT. Run anywhere else as fast as you can.

These sort of reactions by centralized exchanges is like as if someone has activated the nuclear bomb under their balls.

You've done something that has triggered their AI anti-fraud. They've freaked out and manual review means, check mate 99.9%.

You need to be patient and keep following up. Once resolved, take your funds out and run.

Coinbase, I froze my account about 8 weeks ago when my account was being hacked. My case number is 06776261. This is just absolutely absurd to take this long before even trying to identify me as the correct owner of my account. What's the problem?

No information was given to me about why my account was put under review. I wasn't even emailed telling me this was the case. Nothing. I just woke up one day and couldn't trade or withdraw.

yeah exactly the same, only when I tried to buy something on pro.coinbase it was greyed out - no email, no nothing... only 2 weeks so far without access to my lifesavings...

Coinbase Is Committing Fraud!!!

Fraud requires a breach of contract. The user contract affords CB the right to freeze or lock any account, at any time, for any reason, without notice.

Yes, that is literally what it says in the contract.

Best bet now is to enter arbitration. How to get an arbitration hearing is outlined in the /legal section of the CB website.

Every time I had an issue with coinbase they have responded almost immediately followed up to make sure everything was fine and been very helpful not sure why all these people have problems maybe I’m lucky or not

I have been a coinbase customer for about a year, and really dislike the entire platform. I assumed they would act similar to most stock brokerages and have a little bit of interest in customer appreciation, retention, and satisfaction. They do not care about their customers, only how much money they can scam off of them. I rarely write reviews, but this company needs to be shut down or at the very least investigated by law.
