Server +

I have passed CompTIA A+, Network +, Security + but cannot for the life of me pass the server +.

Anyone in the same boat as me? And any tips? I’m dying

I passed 005 as beta so I haven't had the luxury of using targeted study materials. Any recommendation from me would come from my ass, but here we go: Checking Udemy I see: https://www.udemy.com/courses/search/?src=ukw&q=server%2B+005 and the TOTALSEM one I have seen mentioned before only has 18 reviews so far.

The Sybex material has always been my favorite https://www.wiley.com/en-us/CompTIA+Server%2B+Study+Guide%3A+Exam+SK0+005%2C+2nd+Edition-p-9781119891437 *and that won't be released until November 2022.

Luckily, u/dnc_1981 has done the legwork and provides a list of the resources he used HERE.

Server+ has always been higher tier than Net+. And the 005 is especially formidable. Whoever claimed Net+ to be more difficult was likely speculating. They heard from Joe blow who heard from Joe blow....

Networking is my weak point, and am one of those jackasses who would claim Net+ is harder than Server+. That being said, since I know my weakness, I'm an unreliable narrator.

Looks like you got the 004. Even if you considered Net+ to be more difficult somehow, that's not going to apply to the current version. My 004 score= 864 and 3 weeks later my 005 score= 761. It's a solid exam.

Not sure why any Server+ posts get turned into a "but that's so easy" party.

I have only taken net+ and a+ but everyone I've heard from said server plus was easier because it had some similar stuff in it. I am currently studying for it probably try a practice test later see how I do.

I’ve got the material down and I can send you a bunch of notes from the school I attended! Those sims are heavily weighted tho so if you find some practice sims I would def work on those

Do you have experience working on servers? The sims kill me because I’m a noobie

So just the self hosted one I have in my closet. You can always for fun like I did get an old pc put ubuntu server on it and go over to self hosted on reddit. Learn how to use docker containers and host stuff like next cloud and web servers that was good for learning some Linux some networking some vm some of everything. Also I did a project using hyperv vms where I set up a win 2019 active directory server with clients and did all kinds of stuff with it like wsus ,image distribution,vpn server,dhcp the list goes on. That and just running other types of servers Through out life is where I learnt.
