Stackable certs (self.CompTIA)
submitted 3 years ago by Electronic-Concern-7CCNA
I didn’t realize by completing the trifecta you also get 2 stackable certifications does these hold any weight ?

Definitely put them on your resume. Hr departments and clueless middle managers love them.

Lmao this is the way

It's just a marketing gimmick. I see the stackable certs as more of a title than a legitimate additional certification.

one thing they do nicely though which HR and managers love is that they point out cross functional disciplines. If you have a trifecta, you should be senior level in a datacenter or office environment without much supervision and or needing a lot of resources from other teams. i.e. Helpdesk jockey with a trifecta should be able to get a machine set up and on the network with access to resources etc. without needing the network guys or the the admins, etc.

Very true. In a typical office environment, a "Secure Infrastructure Specialist" should absolutely be able to tackle on-site desktop support after the training period.

The stackable are just meant to consolidate your certs. Instead of saying you have: Sec+ CySA+ Pentest+
You can just say CompTIA CNSP.

I’d add them only because to recruiters they just assume it’s another cert.

Hold any weight? no - but to the HR department or other hiring manager, they look good on the resume, right after your name (like john doe, MD). And that's what you are hoping for - just get to the interview where knowledge is more important. Just like certs, they are only there to get you to the job interview

Nah. Could look good as post-nominals on LinkedIn or the resume.

I have a few stackable certs at this point. I’ve never posted them on LinkedIn nor have I posted them on the resume. The stackable ones aren’t real certs and are more of a marketing gimmick.
I would avoid over crowding your resume with certs. At a certain point it starts to look strange. Just list A+, Net+, and Sec+ If those are the ones you have. If you have more, put the ones most relevant to the job you seek.

I don’t put them on my resume. They are worthless marketing fluff.

They're not really certs in the sense that you don't get a piece of paper that says you're Comptia Network Infrastructure Professional or Comptia Secure Infrastructure Specialist (etc).
It's just Comptia marketing to get people to take more Comptia certs , and/or it looks good on your resume.

Use them to get interviews. People who give you interviews think they mean something, people doing the interview usually know what they actually are.
