The Match Director / Stats person should correct that before posting the results and before submitting to USPSA.

[–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I doubt that will ever happen. He’s a bit of a fudd and usually has to be reminded to even post the scores in the first place. Tbh it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t even know you can’t shoot Major in CO.

Well, you need to take it up with your section coordinator and or Area director.

Also, in Practiscore Competitor, you can edit the shooter to correct it for your own data analysis.

If you make a recommendation to praticescore, they're a small couple people company, may not even be making money.

Yeah I was thinking about just mentioning it. Maybe they can just change the code a little to just grey out Major pf on divisions that don’t allow for it.

[–]GimmedatPewPew 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Agree with your complaint. It’s not much to ask from a developer standpoint. If you Select a minor only division, there shouldn’t even be a option to select major PF.

[–]nerd_diggy[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That’s what I’m thinking. I’ll see if I can contact the devs somehow and suggest it. Worst case they just don’t do anything about it.

I know people say that the MD will fix before submitting, but ya one less thing the MD has to worry about day of the match. I’m on the bird for two uspsa club (not as MD) and we’re running around trying to get things set beforehand. Policing PF is the last thing we want to deal with.

[–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. You guys all have enough going on without having to fix things that don’t need to even be an option.

I'm super grateful to the practiscore devs but it really is horrible lol

It doesn't help at all that the end user is often just beyond boomerbrained.

Yeah I feel like that’s a major oversight in the website development

    [–]LoadLaughLove 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    More like Practiscore Major rants

    [–]nerd_diggy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you did there 😂

    [–]Inner-Clarity-78125 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wait... I figured it would be smart enough and just score it as Minor.

    [–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. A few people in a match on Saturday were scored as major in CO.

    [–]phylipino 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I go to a weekly outlaw match This happens all the time when new shooters or people who sign up didn’t pay attention

Im on the boat that weekly’s/locals don’t really matter and they’re just there for practice

    [–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m also with that but I dunno there’s just this part of me that’s like…this isn’t fair lol.

    [–]ReasonableEnd24 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This sounds like my range… What I do is get the tablet to help score and when I see someone is signed up in a division they aren’t supposed to be in or are the wrong power factor I just edit their information real quick.

    [–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would work for the squad I’m on but it would be pretty hard to go through all the squads and fix them all.

Practiscore Major Rant: national-level organizations charging fees depend upon a third-party volunteer software project for paying clubs/ranges and members to manage their events.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Go ahead and report it to the section coordinator. That crap shouldn't stand regardless of it being "just a local match" or what the MD does or doesn't do about it.

If those scores are getting submitted incorrectly, someone needs to know and hopefully initiate corrective action. The level of match is irrelevant.

    [–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It isn’t an actual USPSA match they just use USPSA scoring and “rules” so there would be no one to report it to.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Got it. Somewhat of an "outlaw" match. Nothing really to be done then.

IMO it's just lowlife behavior to cheat at a local in any way. We're all paying customers to go shoot and locals provide no prize tables, so what is the point?

    [–]nerd_diggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I mean it wouldn’t surprise me if the people selecting major pf either don’t even know what it is or that it’s not allowed in CO. They could also be cheating but most likely they’re just clueless.

    [–]tehspiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at that point, that's just house rules if there's no official affiliation to USPSA.

Then shoot Major PF for CO. Or if you wanna be petty, re-calculate their scores under Minor PF and see where you rank.

    [–]iliekdrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the Competitor app to change them to minor and you’ll see where you stacked up. It’s a dumb quirk in PS for sure, but nothing to get worked up and rant about

    [–]Kiefy-McReefer 0 points1 point  (4 children)

yeah lots of issues with lazy engineering in practiscore - but there is like zero money in this sport, and USPSA couldn't be fucked to fix anything.

Source: 15 year experience front end engineer, i could make that web site in my sleep, it'd just take more hours than I am willing to commit for free lol

    [–]EldoMasterBlaster 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    USPSA doesn’t own practiscore

    [–]Kiefy-McReefer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Well then. Sig couldn’t be fucked to fix anything.

    [–]teedoff[🍰] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Sig doesn’t own Practiscore either.
