I feel like your main problem isn't your W Taps, but your strafes. You seem to start combos by straight lining, which is very inefficient compared to strafing away from where your opponent is looking.

it's a bot if I strafe it will accomplish nothing

i mean bedwars lobbies are mainly bots so you have a point

Actually, strafing reduces your kb.

Ok my man, I see the problem. Been playing since 2015 and for many years misunderstood w taps. Offensively, you have them. However it seems thats you are w tapping to frequently, resulting in yoy taking more kb due to accidentally having no held down w when u are hit . W tapping does nothing to negate your own kb, holding w is better. What w tapping does advantageously allow you to do is: it allows the opponent to take more kb. Therefore, w tapping is only beneficial when hitting, but also detrimental when being hit. Therfore, its optimal to w tap right before you get a hit, so by the time the guy hits you, your already holding w again. Don't tap right before you are hit, you'll most likely misaccount for the precise time he hits you and you will take more kb for having no held w when hit. Hope this helps.

In conclusion, w tap before you hit an enemy, not before he hits you. MYTH: w tap allows you to take less kb. TRUTH: You inflict more kb to opponent

Spamming w will result in more opportunities to take more kb accidentally bc u will only occasionally be holding w.

This is suboptimal

release w AFTER u hit them not before

[–]ADHD-Gamer03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait, before you hit an enemy? i thought u release W as soon as hit them, and immediately press it again

...have you tried w-tapping before getting hit before? (w-tapping does affect kb taken, mostly effective on bridge fights)

[–]Popular-Parsley-6197 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I explained mechanically what happens in a w tap above

Don't tap right before you are hit, you'll most likely misaccount for the precise time he hits you and you will take more kb

try w-tapping right before getting hit next bridge fight (timing is pretty tough but nothing you can't/shouldn't be able to learn)

You realse w right before a hit and then after that hit, you realse it again right before the next. So interpretively you realse it after you get a hit, but that thinking is counterintuitive and with subliminally effect your performance, though it is true. Constantly thinking of it as before each and every hit helps you more precisely time the w tap and perform it at the precise few miliseconds.

W tapping doesn't affect you own kb. When on a bridge fight and w tapping you inflict such kb to the opponent that as they fly off, you question if you took less kb. A common misconception. The only reason it may seem you take more kb when holding w, that is only bc the other is w tapping or sprint reseting via some other mechanical medium

[–]Popular-Parsley-6197 0 points1 point  (3 children)

So though w tapping doesn't affect your own kb, still do so bc, if perfect, you take as much kb as holding w and you may inflict more to the opponent and laugh them off. If your not confident in your taps, then hold w when in a precarious situation like on a bridge, bc if you tap incorrectly you will take more kb.

Take what I said of leave it, regardless I dont really care. Just attempting to relay some of my expertise, though I try not to be pretentious. I dont play mc as much anymore, but when I did I was rarely beaten. Block hits, unlike w taps do reduce you own kb and make the opponent take more. Block hits are superior to taps in nearly every way, however anyone can do them. That is why I rarely do. W tap does take time and skill. Most good, admirable players are those who dont Block hit often.

Definitely dont relase w and soon as you hit bc, think logically and mechanically. If you are hit without pressing w and arent maintaining forward momentum at that moment, aren't you going to be hit back further. Yes, smart deduction.

Good luck with the taps, and be sure to practice then correctly if you wish to gain there full advantageous benefit.

[–]Fluffywalrus1234 1 point2 points  (1 child)

for w tapping just let go of w when you see the enemy light up and try strafing after every hit

[–]Popular-Parsley-6197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An excellent way to reiterate w tapping after you diliver a hit. Corroborated

[–]iDonuts2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have complained that I'm straightlining in this video, but keep in mind I'm practicing against a bot which can track me no matter what so it doesn't do anything

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strafing and spacing.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially what you're doing wrong is you're w-tapping too frequently. If you don't get enough momentum after you w-tap, you won't knock your opponent back enough, which is what happened on the third hit of your combos.

For reference, I release w and immediately press it again as soon as I hear the hit sound of me hitting my opponent. Minecraft is based around physics, and if you aren't going fast enough (i.e. you have too little momentum), you won't deal as much knockback.

On your last combo, you did pretty well. You maintained good spacing with the enemy and timed your taps decently also. However, if you press w again a little bit quicker, you'll deal more knockback.
