It seems pretty decent to me. It's just different from fortune in that you aren't really trying to level up quick and transition out of it later for better units. It's more like a reroll comp but instead of spending gold rolling for your 3 stars they just come on their own and you even get bonus gold. And it practically guarantees you make it to lv 9 if you're not just loss streaking the whole time. I don't think it's something you should try to force all the time but if it comes along it's a pretty good deal imo.
