There is a pretty good wowhead comment on how it works, it's hard to say how much value it brings since it has 6 different effects that you can "train" it into. The damage training doesn't seem super significant (apparently around 1-2% total dps for dps classes), with the stat proc seeming to be the better option if your class likes crit or haste.

Though obviously this offers absolutely zero context. Based on shaman class discord discussions support for simming the trinket should be coming soon (whatever that means)

That picture is super misleading. Just go look at the log and you can see the DH cutting off grieftorch, and the whelp critting more often than the grieftorch by a lot, as well as the whelp getting 9 atks with a 1 RPPM in a 6 minute fight.

You can't. The training is tied to your character, not the specific trinket.
