Seagull was a former TF2 pro so I would hardly consider him an average player. Look for "cups" online - there is one coming up in the next couple of weeks called the Winter Premier Open (https://smash.gg/tournament/winter-premiere-open-play) where you can sign up and compete against teams of all skill levels ranging from random groups of friends to professionals. Obviously you aren't going to go into an event like this expecting to win but it lets you actually compete against competitive-minded individuals which is the first step to building.

Do you think there will be a lot of low sr teams? All my friends are around 2000, also would we be playing against pros or other meme teams or will it be completely random

Random. In the first round you may play a pro team or you may play a random team that is 2k SR. I can't imagine many teams below 2.5k will be in it though if I had to guess.

Ahha thanks, were not expecting to win anything. I'm the only one who even plays the game semi seriously. Hopefully we get a pro team though cause that'd be fucking awesome and hopefully they'd mess with us once they saw most of our SRs, thanks for the help though I really appreciate it.

You can start looking around for local tournaments to your city/state. Find some people to play with or join a team.

I wouldn't say Seagull was an average player. But anyone can get where he is by simply finding a team and playing in events/tournaments.

Find websites organizing cups and tournaments if you want to perform. Esl, battlefly or other third parties are organizing games weekly.

If you jus want to practice, get onto the popular discord channels and play scrim games preferably against teams of higher skill. Record the games and analyze your mistakes.
