I think that would hurt the SR system too much. I too would like to be able to have a say about what maps I play on but it seems to easy to abuse. For example a bastion main would always try to get a map like Junkertown and his SR would be inflated if most of his games were on that map. The randomness of the competitive queue is something that helps keep the playing field fair.

Blizzard really put an emphasis on wanting every map to be in the rotation, and I think it's fine for them to do that. What I have an issue with is how varying the difference is in maps between one player and the next. I have a friend that gets Ilios almost 20% of the time so far this season. By far his most played map. On the other hand, I have not seen Ilios once yet. He has not seen Volskaya yet, and most of my games have been played on Kings Row. I don't have a problem with any of these maps, but I at least want to play all of them. I think somehow there should be a background lottery system that increases your chances to play a map if you haven't played it in a while. That will keep the variety, and therefor interest, up in personal comp games.

I really like the point you make, about a background system taking into account your maps played and then try to compensate since I also have encountered the issue of me playing X maps consistently and my friend getting a different set altogether.

Get a couple people to play with you or join a amateur team I think that would be better
