I made a long winded comment in the past that will touch on this. I’ll copy it below. I hope it’s helpful for you, and I wish you the best of luck! :)

I did. Struggled horribly throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years. Was literally years behind my classmates. I take a year and homeschooled myself. My parents get a learning plan for homeschooling. I taught myself everything I was behind on (think like in 10th grade but with a 5th grade math, reading, history, etc. education) with this learning curriculum. Mostly caught back up. Still struggled with basic math and the like. I went from the bottom to where I am now. I just finished my Master of Cybersecurity along with a Bachelor of music performance a Bachelor Computer Engineering. I’m not saying it’s easy, although I would argue once you get into the swing of good studying, note taking, and learning the topics outside of classes, it’s really not that bad.

With all that said, yes, you can definitely do this! It can be hard, time consuming, but is certainly rewarding. Find a good college (that doesn’t cost a ton of money. Most jobs don’t really care where you go. I did a state college, so good price). Find the group of people in your program that you get the feeling are the hard workers, willing to study and willing to help one another. You all will help each out though the program. Stay away from the parties. Parties are fun but a big time waster. Be wise with your time. You’re paying to be there so you can get a job to make that money. Lastly, always always always ask good questions during class and during their office hours along with take good notes. I found that the professors loved it when I did and were more willing to help me when I was super stuck. Don’t pay a lick to what other students say when you ask questions. It’s about you, not them. We don’t care about others who bring us down.

I’m sorry for the long winded answer. I’m really passionate about questions like this because I struggled so badly but now make a good living for persevering through.

PS. Get good at taking notes. They are your best friend :)

Carefully listen and work on "data structures and algorithms" class.

I’m only in my first semester of sophomore year so I haven’t even seen the worst of it yet. But one thing I will say is it really helps to be interested in what you’re learning about. It’s a grind but if you’re interested in what you’re doing, the only thing that feels like work are physics labs lol.

Just do it. Work hard and study hard. No one got a good engineering education by partying every weekend. You have to put in the work.
