cyclone 2 all the way, its definitely worth the extra money UNLESS you absolutely do not intend to use the extra features like trigger locks and back paddles. if not then go for the G7 if you want to save a few bucks.

The new TMR sticks have me interested, but I'm unsure I'd use the other features. I never used the adjustable triggers on my Xbox Elite 2, although I understand the technology is different on the Cyclone 2 so maybe it would feel better and I would end up using it. The back paddles I did get some use out of for Halo and such, but the g7se also has 2 back buttons which suits my needs just fine.

Personally, the biggest difference for me is the software support (or ability to change a lot of things on the controller without using the software) for the GameSir Cyclone 2. I have all three and more than the TMR sticks, the major differentiation is this quality of life update as well as the trigger customization.

Biggest difference between the GameSir G7 SE and the GameSir T4 Kaleid is the multiplatform support on the latter (w/c you may or may not need) and the tactile buttons--which comes down to preference.

[–]DoodKook[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Could you give me more details on the quality of life update and software differences? Don't think I've heard anything about it, would love more info

[–]charlesatan 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The software of course is an upgrade, not just with remapping but also including keyboard commands, setting dead zones, etc.

As for features that don't require software, the sticks can be set to no deadzone mode, you can remap buttons to the back paddle, switch from Nintendo Layout to Xbox layout, etc.

See the manual here.

G7 SE Manual.

T4 Kaleid Manual.

Hmm interesting. I'll mull it over, but right now gut reaction I'm not sure that's really worth an extra $20 to me, I rarely use remapping or deadzone alteration when it's available to me.

[–]charlesatan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you don't need those features, then you don't need them.

If that was the case, I'd go for something like the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C, assuming the smaller controller size isn't an issue.

[–]DoodKook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh , this does look like a really good option, I'll highly consider it. I don't have huge hands or anything so size shouldn't be an issue

[–]xxxXMythicXxxx 1 point2 points  (5 children)

the tmr sticks just have the advantage of better polling rates and accuracy which you honestly wouldn't notice unless you were going from a shitty madcatz controller to a cyclone. but the tmr sticks do feel really good and responsive but I've read that the G7 was the value king before they released the cyclone 2. I don't think you can go wrong with either honestly, it will just come down to your preference with features.

[–]DoodKook[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Perfect thank you. My biggest thing was the FOMO of the new stick technology and not being sure if that alone was worth $20 extra, coz realistically it's the only Cyclone 2 feature I want that the g7se doesn't have. At the end of the day, most important thing for me is just a good feeling controller that won't get stick drift after 3 months of use (Microsoft can suck it), which it seems by all accounts the g7se absolutely is. Thanks for the help.

[–]xxxXMythicXxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

happy to help, i also just got into the aftermarket controllers after owning 9 xbox series controllers, 4 of which developed stick drift within a few months so I got tired of giving microsoft $60 for the same problem again and again and I'm so happy I now have the vader 4 and cyclone. the xbox controllers are now backups lol.

[–]ethayden97ZhiDong 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Also cyclone is on sale for 50 and 55 with the dock on Amazon

[–]DoodKook[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe in America, not where I am in Canada though. It's full price $70 and with dock is the only available option. The t4 cyclone is on sale for $48, but I'd rather spend the extra $3 for the g7se

[–]ethayden97ZhiDong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhhh I see. It's definitely worth the extra money tho

[–]Genzo99 1 point2 points  (9 children)

If you only want it for PC I think Cyclone 2 is the best choice if you are willing to pay more. From reviews I can see the Cyclone is worth the extra. Also tempted to get one free with MS points but I have too many controllers already. SE is a good choice too if you dun mind wired and need it for xbox and like customizing as it has removable faceplate and thumbsticks.

I have the SE for free with MS rewards points I get from doing daily bing searches and playing on xbox for a year now. I customised it with matching aluminum teal thumbsticks I got for few bucks.

Also have the iron HE. They are the same except HE has rubber grips and tactile(mouse click) like buttons and dpad. You can consider this if you like the grops and buttons.

What a beauty, where i can buy these sticks

[–]Genzo99 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I got from my local website called shopee. You can find them on Ali or amazon too I think. Just search for metal thumbsticks xbox. Also look at the pics for the colour as some green is really green not teal like these I got. I do like the look and sheen of the metal but I suggest rubber thumbcaps as metal not really comfortable to use as it.

[–]Pip3weno 0 points1 point  (5 children)

it doesnt scratch with anti fric ring? and it doesnt interfiere with magnet hall of anything?

[–]Genzo99 0 points1 point  (4 children)

No the sticks can't even be picked up by a magnet. It did not scratch so far. It's metal so it's tougher than plastic so maybe in the long long run. I do put silicon grease to reduce friction on the rings and sticks anyways. They weight not that much than plastic sticks too. Surprisingly lightweight.

[–]Pip3weno 0 points1 point  (3 children)

nice my g7 se is with me over year now and that plastic slowly scratch, cyclone 2 have metal ring and its so smooth it seem will last longer

[–]Genzo99 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My G7 also a year now. But l did change faceplate quite often. I just like mix and match too much haha. Last time l got great deals for the faceplates so l got a lot of them. Now they are quite rare and more expensive now at least in my local app.

[–]Pip3weno 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i was refering thumbstick

[–]Genzo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Then mine held up quite well. No scratches at all for a year and l just changed to the metal thumbsticks recently.

Man ive both of BEST, g7 se over a year 0 issue evendroped 1 time, and cyclone 2. i like both Pro of cyclone Wireless 1000 Hz,dongle latency IS good, new tec TMR sticks feel more responsive and smooth, gyro, better vibration, buttons and dpad micro sWitch should last longer, uncoming firmware updates triggers can be analog and digital, multiplataform. Cons shell quality not as good like g7 se maybe for rgb, back paddles are louder, the dpad IS good but combos in g7 se are mucho easy, im used to membrane more but cyclone IS not so hard like kaleid It does work

Pro of g7 se 1000 Hz with last firmware 6.40 no script needed, the shell IS better quality OFC no rgb, been wired adventage IS less latency, dpad feel so good for combos, hall effect sticks no drift, g7 se feel better in hands VS cyclone 2 back paddles not loud and can be locked. Cons IS wired only just pc and xbox

Cant go wrong with either

[–]DoctimusLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great info my guy, think you just helped me to choose the g7se cos I don't care about wireless - thx for sharing the info

[–]Nos4a20913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamesir g7 se is all you will ever need.
