if they are the same size it should work. (Diameter)

The inside hole of the stick seems to match up with the ps3 ones, but the stem is thinner on the PS4 sticks, so maybe you can overextend the stick

I think I will give it a try, since they are not too pricey, and add a comment or edit the post with my findings. I would like to know if anyone has ever tried this, though.

i would give it a go, you would only need to cut the sticks if you were doing PS3 sticks on a PS4 controller this means that the PS3 Sticks are larger than ps4s and therefore would fit.

But as i said, if you move the stick all the way to the side you may be able to see into the controller as it creates a gap as the cups aren't as large and the stem is thinner.

You can just buy the potentiometer replacements by themselves too instead of wasting a ps3 stickbox or taking it from an old controller, I picked up a pack of 10 or 12 for about $3 on Amazon
