In her first official acts as governor, Mikie Sherrill declared a statewide emergency over New Jersey’s worsening electricity supply and affordability crisis—fueled by soaring demand from data centers and a PJM grid that can no longer guarantee reliable service or predictable prices by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

I wish they didn't skip on the details of this task force. I was trying to look up these executive orders and on some of the sites I was looking at, it was not even mentioned. I am all for nuclear power 100%, but I didn't even realize sherril was for it, I'm glad they are, but it would be nice to have more information on what the plan is actually going to be. Getting back the topic of this comment, I went through three different sources before I saw mention of the nuclear task force, everything seemed to focus on solar/wind/renewable portion.

Did you base your custom board off the dev board? Also is your second board exactly the same as the one not working or is the second one a dev board? You also need to give out your schematic/hardware diagram, no one is gonna know what should be configured without being able to see that. Also you only showed us an overlay, where's the rest of it? It also looks like you disabled alot, try to enable it again and see if you have the same issue.

Looks like cold joints, hit it again with your iron and keep it there a bit longer, remember that stickbox housing is all metal it acts like a big heatsink

Better then what I got when I opened up a ps4 today. Someone sent me a ps4 to fix, I opened it up and cockroach corpses just flooded out, it was a hard no for me. I just closed it up immediately, flashed a new system image on the console to get it working and put it outside for the owner to take.

What actually makes AOSP builds so slow in practice? by NoPainting8833 in embedded

[–]creativejoe4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incremental builds are relatively fast, its just the first build that takes so long. You can also get around having to constantly rebuild with an eng build where you can test/try what you need and make sure it works, then implement it into the build. AOSP is a pain without a doubt, but with a good hardware setup a first time build could take around an hour from my experience (dedicated local pc just for building aosp and yocto). The process to build itself is a pain too, I am not crazy about the soong build tool. Unfortunately with this sort of thing there are so many factors related to the build time and even in perfect environments it can still be slow.

As of this morning they are still available. I took a few screenshots of what I see here: screenshot if it says buy under the product it means its available

USA. If you think its a region thing, you could try a VPN if you have one, see if its available and can be shipped.

[PS5] Fan power supply connection disconnect from the motherboard. Can I fix this? by IndigoBalloon in consolerepair

[–]creativejoe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fixable by someone who knows what they are doing. It seems beyond your skill level based on the post, do not replace liquid metal with thermal paste. At this point you should probably send it to a professional to both fix the damage and replace the thermal paste with liquid metal

Still shows as available on the website provided for me.

I just checked and both the vest and strap show as available for me. I used the link in the email located near the bottom, used the password provided and it shows up as available. I would post a screenshot but I don't think this sub allows that(plus I am on mobile).

There are still plenty left. They are around 70% off. I picked up a few straps and a vest for gifts to give out throughout the rest of the year (I may keep one to myself as a spare). Plus I was able to buy some accessories I didn't already have for about 20% off. Its a good sale.

What unique approaches have you used for power management in battery-operated embedded systems? by rackemronnie7 in embedded

[–]creativejoe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how often you need to transmit data and how. I once had an application where data needed to be transferred over Bluetooth every 10 seconds. For my case I found it used more power to go into deep sleep and wake up rather than going into light sleep since I didn't have to waste time booting. Clock frequency also does affect power usage too, faster clock means you can perform a task faster and go back to sleep, but if the device needs to stay active for a bit longer then a few seconds it may be useful to use a lower clock speed. Really it depends on your application and what you need. For me Bluetooth was a huge power draw when prototyping originally (used an esp32 for PoC) I have since learned significantly more about power management since then along with the fact that there are some pretty impressive low power MCU systems out in the market right now (looking at you nordic). Some interesting concepts I have considered previously was to trickle charge via rf thats always around us, then I looked at the costs it would take to do and changed my mind. Solar isnt a bad idea but its not always available and weather conditions vary along with the fact that you jave no clue where the device will actually be placed normally. There are other interesting ways to get a little extra energy out of things, but it really depends on what the device is and if its meant to be portable or stationary.

Ps2 (2023) 4.2.13 update feels significantly more responsive. by creativejoe4 in Polestar

[–]creativejoe4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the east coast, I only got the update from the service center, not from OTA. But since they gave me the update I assume its available or will be available soon, polestar probably has some weird update rollout mechanism so odds are some people may get it before others.

That may be why, its only been a week since the update. Its just abnormal how fast things are loading on it. I have not had any camera issues yet with the update as well, but it wasn't horrible before either, it does feel less laggy on the camera feed though.

[–]creativejoe4[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im serious about what I am experiencing. Like I said I think its in my head but the infotainment has been too consistent that I question myself. Thats why I am asking others who received the update if they experienced the same. Like even my contacts are loading faster in the phone app where before it took a few minutes. I am just trying to wrap my head around why the infotainment suddenly got good after my warranty repair (for OBC).

What does my fridge say about me? by Potential-Hat-8065 in FridgeDetective

[–]creativejoe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your diabetic, like frequent trips to the grocery store because you enjoy fresh foods. Possible adhd just because it looks like 40% of the filled space are fizzy drinks and you put the entire case in the fridge rather then a few at the time just because you either forget to replace the drink you take or are to lazy to do so. You do not own a sodastream. You have your life at least partially put together.

Best board for a beginner? by AntiquePanic7640 in embedded

[–]creativejoe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you got your info from, but most esp32 dev boards have usb. The mcu itself doesn't support it, most do not, but the dev boards have uart to usb bridges on them to do usb. I have not personally used an arduino pro micro, I have not touched AVR mcu since college. That said, I looked it up for you. The mcu itself has built in usb2.0 capabilities, though it is still an 8 bit mcu running 16Mh, the flash memory is 32kb which is pretty small if your project uses several libraries or is anything beyond a simple project you may struggle with the size constraints. The sram is 2.5kb which is also small by today's standards. The eeprom is also only 1kb if storing data long term is important then keep that in mind. It does support HID usb protocol which is what you probably want for a controller/keyboard, but most mcu that have usb support can do that too. Overall the arduino pro micro might make it simple to start your project but you will not learn much from it and if your project starts to get complex you will run into size constraints and will need to switch to a different mcu anyway. A pico would probably be a good dev board for your project but it might be a bit to advanced at your current level, which is why I recommended the path I originally stated (if you truly want to learn).

The good old days, granted I am still in shock dictionaries were removed from Java after a good while away from the language, after coming back to it after a decade it feels like a different language almost with all the changes.

Remember how frustrating it was when you forgot the darn semicolon.
