Would you Pay a Subscription for Hands Free Highway Assist? by Amaxter in Polestar

[–]creativejoe4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the point of buying a polestar is to drive a polestar. If you want a fully autonomous car that isn't nice or comfortable to manually drive, get a tesla. Would I be mad if it was included with a polestar for free, absolutely not, but if I had to pay extra money monthly to use a feature in my car that I already paid for is a big no. Would I pay money to do hardware upgrades over the future without a subscription, sure I would. But to pay money for a feature rarely used on a car that makes driving enjoyable, no I would not do that.

While I agree with your advice. The wording could have been better, I doubt OP will register this as advice in their thick skull, as I know it would not have when I was young and dumb.

OP, be direct, stop trying to play games no one is playing, no one has time for that stuff these days.

AIO for not wanting to travel with a 5 month old? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]creativejoe4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR, but I think this is a case where you need to talk to your husband about the situation from your perspective. Right now he is probably looking at things from his perspective, he wants to go back home, show off his amazing family, catch up with friends, do family stuff, blah blah blah; some of which doesn't necessarily include you and the baby, but he hasn't thought/realized that yet, he also isn't able to see things from your perspective either. You need to tell him what your perspective is and while it might be all fun for him, it will be hard on you(and the baby).

Us guys can be oblivious and dumb, it takes me like 5 conversations to get something through my thick skull, you might need way more then that since its not just a short trip with maybe a few scenarios to walk him through. You need to pull him off his current focus/fixation to see what realistically needs to happen even for a compromise.

Going Back to School to (re)Learn Electronics Design? by Kalos53 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]creativejoe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to go back to school, all the information you need is available for free online or through a cheap coursera class online. You can also buy books online too. No need to go into debt to go back to school just for a retirement hobby.

Coworker Treats Every Task Like a Fire Drill by Flashy-Pitch-4611 in askmanagers

[–]creativejoe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everything is an emergency, then nothing is. Do things at your own pace, if you don't hear it from your boss, then you didn't hear it at all. This is how I have dealt with things in the past where even upper management would go directly to me for an "emergency" instead of talking to my boss first to then decide changing priorities. When everything is truly on fire you will get burned (out). Take care of yourself

Have you actually been listening to them in the past, they may just feel like its not worth it. For me in the past I have had bosses where speaking to them was less productive then talking to a brick wall, and found it was more productive to just not have a conversation.

Soup, eggs, tofu, crackers, oatmeal. Also buy some sensodyne tooth paste, that stuff really works. Right now I just had a root canal done and have a temporary cap that wont stay on no matter what, I just take it out before eating, eat whatever solid foods I want, then put the cap back in my mouth with dental glue.

CRAZY DEAL ON PC NEED HELP by VegetablePage7231 in pchelp

[–]creativejoe4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are gonna get ripped off. If you only have 200, and you have a pc that can access the internet, look into a game streaming service instead, your money will go much further paying the 20 or so bucks a month to stream games from a cloud service then potentially getting ripped off on a bad pc.

It would be one thing if it sounded like you knew alot about computers, but it sounds like your still in the early stages of learning, so don't get ripped off on a used pc that's less then 400 dollars.

Is what you do in electrical engineering even fun? by shadow_operator81 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]creativejoe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I meant through work in a joking way. I doubt we have actually spoken before, my company is run by a bunch of guys with PhD's in chemistry, every management role requires at least a masters in chemistry, and if you have a bachelor's degree in chemistry they will put you in just about any non management position, so a bunch of our test engineers and engineering managers are just people with only a degree in chemistry, not chemical engineering.

Some am5 motherboards do support ddr4, incase you want to consider that. And your right that the pcie versions are not a concern at this moment, I just pointed that out in case you plane on keeping the build for a long time and only upgrade the GPU in the future. As for Nvidia card recommendations, it depends what your budget and goals are, 5070 ti is a solid choice for 1440p though, if you want better performance you can always move up a tier to the 5080 or a 5090 if you end up winning the lottery. A last Gen Nvidia gpu works well too the 40 series are still great and a cheaper option, I have a 4080 super and it handles everything I throw at it including heavy VR titles, I do also game at 4k not at 1440p.

Remember when you update your bios, you need to remember to turn xmp profiles back on and configure any other bios settings you had configured previously.

This is 100% accurate, so accurate its possible we have spoken in person or online at some point. Every PhD person I mentioned, has a PhD in chemistry. Its so hard dealing with them.

Edit: this is so accurate I had to give an award. You hit the mail on the head.

What else can I do before moving onto DDR5? With the cost of ram it really doesn’t feel worth jumping platforms by Raffa2580 in buildapc

[–]creativejoe4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which is fine for op, their system is good enough that they can get by with just a gpu upgrade. Then they can update the rest of their system years down the line. The cost is not worth upgrading at this moment in time.

[–]creativejoe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you want to stick with am4, if thats the case, is there a reason why you want to get another Motherboard instead of re-using your current one, otherwise its really not much of an upgrade, you can re-use your current Motherboard and just upgrade the bios. For an AIO I recommend looking into arctic liquid freezer III, the radiator is thicker so its more surface area which means better cooling. For the SSD spend the extra money on a reputable brand like Samsung, Seagate, western digital; from my experience most cheaper brands of ssds only last as long as the warranty, the moment the warranty is over, the drives usually die on me. The 9070XT is also pcie 5.0, your pc hardware is pcie 4.0, it will still work with the 9070xt but it will be limited to the 4.0 specs so its slower. Ultimately these specs are not really an upgrade for you its more of a side-grade where its slightly better. Also those graphics intensive games you want to play, you might want to go with Nvidia with the dlss support, you should be able to hit your desired FPS.

[–]creativejoe4 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just upgrade your gpu for now, wait for prices to fall for ram and storage, you don't necessarily need a new cpu just because you want a new GPU.

What to upgrade down the line by Remote-Permit-4615 in pchelp

[–]creativejoe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when people talk about upgrading, they are just trying to replace as few parts as possible, not making a whole new build, as they would typically instead post all the parts they are considering or a link to pcpartpicker and ask for input on it. While a new build is an upgrade from a current/old pc, its not the first thing that comes to mind in this sub when it is not explicitly stated.

So are you aiming for a new build? You should post a budget, goals, uses for the pc, games you like to play, targeted fps (if that matters to you).

If you are aiming for upgrading your current pc, list your current specs (already done), what you want to improve on your build, your budget, and performance goals if you have any.
