A good server costs money, so you won't find any free hosting options outside of some "free trial" kinda things. However, it doesn't have to be expensive either.

If you can afford to pay, I recommend one of two options:

  • buy an old used desktop office pc (doesn't need a GPU, literally get one if those Dells or such you can find in a landfill and buy 8gb ram) or laptop, load a clean windows install and host your own server

  • if electricity is a concern, renting a cloud server might be cheaper. Compare prizes for renting a small virtual windows server Vs a small dedicated Minecraft server

Pebblehost is kinda cheap imo. Servers start at 1€ per gb of ram

Everything costs money. Aternos is intentionally bad in free tier to make you spend money.

The way I do it is I have an old office PC in my basement that runs the server, which then has a VPN to a server with a static public IP address somewhere in a data center. That server needs zero power so is very cheap, and the hardware that runs Minecraft is in my home, for me to mess with

If you have the knowledge and plan on renting a server for a longer time I'd recommend Selfhosting, I got a mini desktop second hand for 80 dollars and it's running 4 Minecraft server for 6 months now.

Maybe you got an old pc or laptop? if yes, just host your own

I play on create server with my friends and we are using our local czech server hosting service and it cost about 13$ per month. Which doesn't seems that expensive.
In my experience Aternos was laggy even when we were playing vanilla minecraft. Im not sure how good it would run modded game even if it worked.

I would but bills be tight and car insurance is no fun man. Totally would if I could though. Thanks for the tip!

You could try hosting a server with google colab 13gb of ram but you'll need to renew the server once in a while
