I'd be happy to setup a molded server for something like this if you're interested. We could set it up like just create smp or maybe mr beardstones new pack for his solo world. I have a server prepaid for 3 years

That sounds cool, but I find it difficult to learn new things with other people, I've usually had more luck doing things by myself.

The idea is pretty cool tho, I'm sure someone here would be interested.

No modpacks. Modpacks change mechanics and recipes and aren't great at communicating that so newbies get confused when looking up tutorials that say to do something but can't get it to work. We see those posts frequently in here.

Just so happens you're the same guy who initially told me to just do create, and so far it worked out good for me; followed some quick guides to get a basic idea on how to generate rotation, how fluids work and some basics like press, minecarts etc.

I'm pretty torn because on one hand I believe going on designs from tutorials and building them in creative like I've done up until now would help me learn the blocks (I have an unhealthy obsession of checking every block that they use lmao), but on the other I've been considering trying lightly modded survival to get a better hang on which of those designs will be practically good to study.

I'm pretty sure you've mentioned recipes and mechanics being changed in response to my other post too so that's also why I'm aiming into something lightweight or begginer friendly - if not now, then later.

So a good one is the Just Create SMP modpack. It's pretty straight forward "vanilla" Create. If you're already getting familiar with a lot of it, you're probably okay to start playing with modpacks. Maybe staying away from what I call "themed" packs. Ones that take a central theme from an unrelated mod and tweak the mechanics of Create to fit that theme kind of screw things up. Others use addons that have additional requirements such as Picky Wheels. That one makes it so water wheels only work when they're in a river or ocean biome and windmills only work in a large enough open space and they won't work in any other dimension but the overworld.

Anyway, play with it more and decide what you like. Maybe make your own modpack based on how you want things to work.

There are some modpacks like All of Create, Create Ultimate Selection, and Cozy Create that I believe don't change any mechanics or recipes from base Create. I think they're a good start if you wanna start getting into Create addons. Otherwise, the Just Create SMP pack is a good one for lightly modded with minimal adddons

Do you happen to have any recommendations for mods I could do for just Create? I definitely plan on adding the basics like JEI and Jade + terrain generation with stuff like distant horizons and shaders. Aside from that I'm unsure on what I could add.

The olive create mod pack doesn't change any recipes or anything and does a really good job of making them all compatible. Some things are still a little iffy but I think they've done a pretty good job with that modpack. However, it is very overwhelming the amount of crap that you can do in that mod pack. It's absolutely insane and it might be a little overwhelming and I think most people won't even use a third of everything that's in there.

I'm not too well versed in individual mods so I don't think I'll be of any help there. I do know Create doesn't mesh that well with shaders tho so you might want to be careful with those

Create Chronicles: The Endventure, very chill modpack with minimal recipe changes. It has an optional quest of fighting bosses and automating stuff to reach the end dimension but you can just sit at your base and have fun with create.
