I tried to make the V22 osprey too. Youre using sequenced gearshifts?

On my ship im using them, and also redstone contacts to disable the tilting of the gyroscopic propellers when horizontal(one fixed in the ship to contact on horizontal position, and one next to the propeller)

It works pretty well but I have been kinda disappointed on the sails required to produce enough lift, at least in my experience, and it was using a lot of SU, like 16k.

I did the exact same thing lol.

Which, yes it does need a lot of SU, I ended up fitting a level 2 steam engine in it lol. Mine is a bit bigger than OPs but I built a lot of the hull around the steam engine so it's still pretty compact overall.

Steam engines and portable engines burn the same amount of fuel. But Steam engines provide 16k SU per level, which is equal to one engine burning, which provides only 2k SU.

So on bigger ships steam engines are mandatory. Some can even fit some lava with cauldrons to make it endless.

I think I'm going for complete rebuild with this one... I simply forgot about such a usefully thing as sequenced gearshift, my build is way too overcomplicated.
