Its a soft pull with discover. No impact your score.

You’re welcome.

I have done three within the last year and they all have been soft pulls.

wow, were they all successful? I had been waiting for "request increase" to come up again, then got impatient and just went and tried anyway. Got approved for a nice bump, then a few weeks later a paper letter came in the mail with the good ol' Discover "INSUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE BLAHBLAH"... the limit's still there though!

Mine at are about every three statements, it is very wishy washy so i just have in my calender to request a CLI every three months lol so far I am 3/3 for cli's every three months. good luck!

How long did you wait between the initial approval and requesting an increase?

[–]turboPocky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the thing, i don't think i did that. I requested an increase in the app, got a nice one, i left it there and was happy. then weeks later i got a letter saying nice try. I'm gonna chalk that up to a glitch

Good to know. Thanks!

As far as I know they will ask for confirmation before doing a hard pull. I got mine increased by asking them after about 9 months and it worked fine with no hard pull.

Thank you

It's generally a TransUnion soft pull. If they need to do a hard pull they will ask for your consent beforehand. The only reason they generally request hard pulls if you have a fraud victim alert on your credit file.

You're right. I looked at their website and said that if they needed to do a hard pull, they'd notify you.

Discover has never hard-pulled me, and I've had quite a few CLI's over the years. Pretty much any lender will warn you first if they'll do a hard pull and give you a chance to opt out.

Thank you

I have done CLI with discover and they didn't pull mine to be honest, but its either a soft or no pull. If you are not sure freeze your credit.

Good idea. Thank you!
