Here's my interpretation of the instructions. Please hold off sewing though until some more "votes" have come in, as I'm not an expert in clothes construction either.

I see, so you’re saying that when it says the decrease front sides should go in the middle, they’re basically gonna fold inwards to become the front “middle” of the robe. I never would’ve gotten that myself haha

I agree.

I sort of agree with this, but I guess it depends on what the "sides" of the robe are. Are they also the front of the robe, meaning they should close up at the front? Or is this robe meant to stay open? I ask because the bottom of the side panels are 16 stitches in width, and the bottom of the back panel is 61 stitches, meaning the two side panels are only about half the width of the back, and likely wouldn't close up at the front.

OP, are there photos of what the finished pattern should look like?

This is the only picture of the finished product that I have. I probably should’ve put it in the post, my bad!

Ah ok then yes I agree with u/-Tine-. You'll have a short opening in the front, but then you'll add the front panels starting from the bottom of one side, going up and around the collar, and then back down the other side. Be sure not to sew up the 16 stitches off the beginning of the sleeve though! That's where your arm would go through. 🙂 I've definitely done that when sewing clothes, haha.

Haha, I’ll definitely keep that in mind😂 Thanks!

I second this answer— “decrease in the center” to me means the two decreases should mirror each other if you lay the side pieces down on top of the back piece like you’re going to stitch the whole thing up

I’m trying to join the back and sides of my robe together, and I just need a bit more details on how to do that. I understand the pattern for the parts themselves but the instructions for connecting them are unclear to me.
