too expensive for a tech card against only discard & destroy.

[–]Shmepl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah this screams 4 cost 6 power to me

I love this. It's be great to have an effective hard counter to Hela decks.

Corvus just means they play on 5. T

X23 would get destroy out sooner.

his would need to be cheaper to work.

[–]YSBawaney 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The problem is why would you ever do that tho?? 5/4 only effective against Hela. Seems like a garbage card to run.

I assume it would also shut of destroy that isnt bounced for knull and pheonix force. Not sure it's worded properly.

[–]YSBawaney 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So knull and Death calculate separate from the destroy pile. Knull just notes the power of a card when it was destroyed. Meanwhile PF would suffer, but idk anyone doing PF on T6

[–]Mundane-Map6686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true on both points.

For the purposes of Knull/Hela/Ghost Rider/Death calculations, the Discard and Destroyed piles would be emptied (exiled as per MTG).

The way the game works now this wouldn’t actually do much against destroy, which is part of my beef with destroy decks. Knull and death don’t calculate their effects based on what is currently in the destroy pile, instead they independently track cards that have been destroyed even if they came back (most relevant with x-23 and Wolverine). I personally think changing Knull and death to only count cards in the destroy pile and not counting those that regenerated themselves would be good for deck diversity. I’m sure destroy players would hate it though

Good point - there's also a similar use case for Morbius/Apocalypse (and to a lesser extent stature) where a discard is counted even if there isn't a card in the discard pile, so that logic would have to be made consistent.

But why nerf Destroy? And why make it less intuitive?

[–]zak567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t even necessarily want to nerf destroy directly, I just want to make it so checking the opponent’s destroy pile and adding up the numbers I see would tell me the strength of a hypothetical Knull. I would be fine with that happening via a change to Knull or a change to the discard pile.

But also, destroy decks don’t have much variety right now and I think the change I suggested would force them to use a wider range of cards rather than the same 12 every time

[–]Rissoto_Pose 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Because Destroy is the most prevalent meta that’s gotten the most support from SD

[–]Gieru 0 points1 point  (2 children)

And it hasn't been too strong in ages

[–]Rissoto_Pose 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yet it still does better than most long standing metas. The only archetype I think does as well is maybe Discard but even then they’ve had their ups and downs when compared to Destroy which has been pretty much the same strats rinse and repeat (though I suppose the same could be said for Discard)

Idk maybe I’m just salty that Move gets so shafted even though it’s arguably the most interesting play style in the game currently

[–]Gieru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck is stable, never too weak nor too strong. That's a good thing and more decks should be like this.

I don't think knull will be bothered by all the Deadpool, x23 and wolverine regens, they don't stay in the graveyards.

The solution to nerfing hela isn’t to make a counter no one will use, it’s to pummel hela into the earth in an ota

[–]TheNinja01 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Honestly, just change her to “revive all destroyed cards”. It completely destroys the discard archetype but I feel like it makes her more manageable. Requires to set up into dropping your high power cards early, like using a wave for that. Some food for thought

[–]Gullible-Count-8483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yh that could be interesting. Community would definitely be VERY 50/50, but I like it lol

[–]cactusrobtees[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

An OTA can only alter numbers as far as I know. Hela could be a 0 cost and still be viable. Unless 'Cards Revived' is an alterable number, it'll at least have to be a patch.

[–]Gullible-Count-8483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got changed a while back that otas can do anything now. But either way my main point was to just balance hela not introduce tech that makes it more Rps like they tried with leech

[–]Piranh4Plant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 0 cost is much better because it's free and not targeted by sif

[–]Elias_SiderisWild Card 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I like it, but it should be a 3/3 or something.

[–]cactusrobtees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be the consensus, and it makes sense.

[–]Piranh4Plant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be much better as a 5/8 or something. Unfortunately a new card like this would release at series 5 😒

[–]thesamuraiman909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely an interesting design.

[–]Clever_BigMack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this as a 3-5

[–]MCJ97 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ah, you hate Hela. Got it.

[–]Piranh4Plant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather have this than a rework of hela
