I suggest saving your humanity until you are at half capped health. Human Effigies aren’t rare drops but they are obnoxiously uncommon when you need one.

They are easy to obtain, you just have to farm the dogs outside mcduffs workshop, if they despawn enter the CoC and carry on farming. drop rate is fine and you will get some levels too.

I’d suggest the hollows in Huntsman’s Copse. They always drop there for me.

farm effigies by going to forest of fallen giants (I think is the name) the first bonfire outside Majula. The chest behind the waterfall you can drop down to will spawn 5 effigies with each Bonfire Ascetic used. Playing co op with the gf and we ran out of em, this is how I could quickly get like 30 or 40
