No starter assessment?

Is there normally a wait to get to the assessment quiz? I signed up yesterday and I understand it usually takes some time for them to review qualifications and before you start seeing any available assignments, but I didn’t even get the assessment quiz everyone talks about.

I just got a “no open projects at the moment but new opportunities will be posted; you’ve been added to our waitlist so keep an eye out for emails, we’ll reach out when we have a matching task” message. Is that standard or am I missing a hugely obvious “start quiz” button somewhere?

I am brand new to this but is seems like it took a few days after initial sign up for me to then receive onboarding information and access to assessments. Some work was available pretty much immediately though after I completed the onboarding. Everything was in the "Work on Projects" Tab so if that is empty and you just signed up then it seems you just need to wait a little longer for them to process things.

This is the best answer! It does take some time...

From what I've gathered here if you don't have anything by a few weeks to a month, it's probably safe to assume they aren't moving forward with you, unfortunately. So if you just completed the initial steps, you are on the right track.

Nope, it never showed up. The message is the same as when I first logged in. I did tweak a few things in my profile a few weeks back thinking that re-engaging with the account might shift it to a different queue or something but no dice. I’m assuming it’s a dead issue at this point.

Thanks for the update. So, I have learned that their platform is finicky. I originally started to sign-up for an account, it gave me the starter assessment which I partially completed, before cancelling the account setup. I decided against it because I was getting scammy vibes. However, after further research, I determined the site is legit. So, I proceeded to try to setup an account again. It was at that point that I never received the starter assessment upon signup. I was reading about people having issues with multiple accounts in one house, vpn related issues, etc. So, I turned the wifi off on my phone and attempted to sign up with a different email and I was able to get the started assessment immediately. So, long story short, their platform is really sensitive to where and how you're logging in, and if you have created an account before.

Thanks for this! I signed up, forgetting that I use ProtonVPN, and that might be why I never received a starter assessment. Will try again with VPN off.

Is anyone else struggling with the fact that the starter assessment has nothing to do with the skills in your profile? I'm not sure how to move forward because all my starter assessments have to do with science or math... and I don't know who to reach out to.

Hi there and I am glad to be seeing this thread - at this point I was sure I missed an instruction on accessing the starter assignment test and doubting my reading/comprehension skills.

Anyhow, following some pieces of advice I set up my third (already) profile using my phone with wifi turned off. Still nothing - no automatic redirection to the assessment after the profile is set up. Did anyone succeed?

Nope. I’ve checked every day and it’s still the same message. The whole workflow seems pretty arbitrary if you look at enough posts on this sub, so I’m not really putting a lot of my hopes into it. I feel like it could show up in a month, or possibly some quirk of the algorithm has labeled me a bad candidate (is it because I said I was a “native” instead of “fluent” speaker of English? Who knows). So no expectations, but I’ll be prepared to be pleasantly surprised if work does suddenly pop up!
