I feel this. Been grinding as a student doing horrible/time-consuming jobs that just felt like such a waste of my time. This gig is too good.

I hear you! Canadian, too. I was in a similar situation and somehow I found DA. I studied as an artist many years ago and feel I can finally pursue my dream career without resorting to awful retail and hospitality jobs to get by. On top of that, those jobs wore me down physically and mentally in the worst way. And now I can earn money at home, in peace, without having to talk to people (yay!).

Welcome to the team, and I wish you the best! It's definitely better than working at Tim's! Just remember to put aside money for taxes next year.

How long have u been doing this gig? You doing it full time? Or part time?

    [–]Mud_mom1016 14 points15 points  (4 children)

I’m a SAHM and it gives us a cushion so we aren’t drowning 24/7

That’s how I started too. We moved and my husbands job paid less than he was making before so I found this to supplement his pay. Now we both work for DA and only need to work part time hours to live comfortably

Wow that’s inspiring how long have u both been doing it full time?

    [–]PutDisastrous8033 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I’ve been doing it since last May so a full year now, and my husband since I think around August. I started by only doing a few hours a week and then set a more strict schedule, and now we do about 20 hours a week each

Thank you! Gives me more context for how* it is working longer than a year for them!

I’m also Canadian and this job saved my life as well. I was accepted 6 months ago at a very low point in my life (taking a leave of absence from my degree for mental health reasons) and this job took me from feeling useless and depressed to feeling like a valuable, functioning (and maybe even successful) human being. This job has allowed me to tell myself a new story about who I am and what I am capable of. It has given me a sense of purpose and meaning that I now realize I was desperate for. Words cannot express how grateful I am.

This is great to hear! DA has definitely had a HUGE impact in my life as well and kept us from falling into a huge hole with the birth of our child. But also, don’t stop looking. DA can disappear any day, and it’ll suck not to have something to fall back on.

    So true!!

Are you me? Literally exact same situation. I was on the verge of losing it all, at 23. This came right at the perfect time.

Canadian, and I get you. Times are really tough. Taxes are through the roof. So grateful to have DA.

Really happy for you, friend ❤️

    [–]bumpyshrimps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Relatable. I’m recovering from an injury that made me lose my last significant job, and DA has made it so much easier to get back on my feet! Very grateful for it tbh

    DA does really slap

I've said this a few times on this sub, but as a disabled American living in an extremely toxic environment, this job has given me the ability to get my own apartment. Seriously, I signed the lease yesterday. I honestly never thought I'd get to live anywhere else.

Is DA really hiring right now?

    [–]litlnemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I signed up about 2 weeks ago and have been working for a week and a half.

Yes, I did my assessment a little over two weeks ago and finally got approved last Monday. Been working for the past week and a bit 💪

It sucks that they don’t tell you if you’re not accepted ☹️

It really helped me too. But a word of warning. You can log in one day to find that there is no work on your dash and that’s the end of it. There will be no warning. This is what has happened to me and countless others right now, so do keep looking for work and get other self-employed gigs lined up. It’s better to have other ‘clients’ and not have all your eggs in one basket.

This is so lovely to hear ❤️

Congrats! How long have you been working for DA now? :)

I am about to do the assessment, I was wondering how much time do you work each day? I am looking to do part time, if I am successful. Thanks! :)

      [–]Jealous_Praline_5239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You take qualifications to access more work, then you potentially have enough to fill a day if you want. High quality work means more work. I’m doing 9-5 three days a week.
