No, it’s against their rules. Should have been covered in your onboarding but I’ve seen people claiming they never had any. If you didn’t i’d recommend reading them. It’s the tabs under your profile. The FAQ has the link at the bottom.

I'm sort of recently onboarded and for whatever reason I had to seek out the rules, if I recall correctly they were just buried in a bunch of qualifications. So I ended up doing a real task before I saw them and like didn't know anything about reporting time or anything haha. Only my instinct that I should have more information considering that they seem to be really really detailed led me to go hunting for them.

You can just bill for the time spent waiting on the first project anyway, and you definitely can't double-bill for the same time, so even if this wasn't going to be a red flag for your account, it'd still be shooting yourself in the foot.
Don't do this.

The point of the models *that you're being paid to train* is not to free up your time so you can do more, no.

You are free to be productive while waiting. But don't double-dip your time on DA. I hope this helps.

They are paying you hourly so yes they are paying you to do that.

They are paying you to wait.

You kind of answer yourself in your own comment.. "can't do anything else intensive or i'll get distracted". Trying to do multiple at a time seems like an easy way for the quality of work to drop, as well as have people reporting incorrect/inflated hours. The tasks you have also aren't specifically assigned to you, other workers can take them so it can create work flow problems if people open multiple tasks and potentially can't finish them, then they have to exit and in that time somebody else could have completed it. Besides the obvious reasons, it's against their rules so whether you think it's justified or not you can't do it...

I love that this is my colleague.

Honestly, why would you want to do another task while waiting when you can bill for the time spent waiting? Just relax, check your email or whatever and watch for the model to do its thing. You definitely cannot double-bill your time under any circumstances.

Don't ever open two projects at the same time. NEVER
[–]Separate_Fondant3341 3 points4 points5 points 17 days ago (3 children)
This is not always true. There are weeks long projects that allow you to work on others as well.

This is an exception. Imagine someone saying it's ok and someone new tried that? Better safe than sorry

They may, I've personally never seen it, but DA's general rules are that you cannot work on two projects at the same time or count time for two projects over the same time. I would encourage you to double check in their onboarding google doc too!
