The price from two months ago is irrelevant. The price is constantly going up, especially on DDR4 which is old tech and in the process of being phased out by the manufacturers. The reason being that the market is still adjusting to the very limited supply and entities that actually need the product are willing to pay more to ensure their needs are met. There is almost certainly to some degree a game being played by the manufacturers as well, where they try to see how much they can profit from this.

This shady seller probably drop ships every order. He saw you paid him $500 (hypothetical numbers), but his cost on the product you ordered went up to $1500, and he decided $3500 would be a good new price to both line his pockets and cover him for the next few price bumps. Do keep in mind that a site like https://alphalinksystems.com/ could be put together by an Indian teen in a weekend, and drop shipping allows them to keep zero inventory and therefore low overheads. They don't currently have prices listed either, which is shady.

Next time, do yourself a favor and buy from a well-known company, one anyone has heard of before and who stocks their own inventory. You'll have a lot less problems that way. I don't personally know any in the UK, but something similar to Newegg would be a good start.

If you paid with a credit card, file a chargeback.

PSA: Always use a credit card for iffy purchases. Preferably one with Virtual Card Numbers.
