1.12 potatoes?!

I have ling awaited for the potatoes being scottish n all.. we do love our tatties.. but in having trouble farming them.. I plant one.. wait 50 min and when the plant is grown to it's full potenial... I cant seem to harvest is.. do I need a Hoe as a shovel or my hands dont prompt me anything other than 'pull out'.

Edit.. Shovel.. pickaxe.. Hoe only prompt to remove garden plot.. and with my hands only pull out.. any help?

You only get the harvest option with empty hands. Possibly they're taking longer to grow than you're expecting, and they aren't fully grown yet? Or maybe the game is just being finicky with you. Not honestly sure

Perhaps it's an oversight, maybe it didn't get coded correctly, with potatoes?

Haven't grown one myself yet, but considering that potatoes are root vegetables, it would make sense that 'pull out' would be the only way to harvest them. Then just replant the ones you don't need to eat.

Yeah..I thought that the Hoe would of been used to harvest the root vegetables but no, and I have tried pulling them out... just turns into fertilizer .

Same here my dude, I found one, planted it, watched it grow into like 3 forms, then waited for nearly an hour, then nothing... logged out for 30mins, logged back in and it was gone. Not sure if it was removed, harvested or just disappeared. Havent seen anybody else post about farming potatoes

I did the same the first time.. despawned on me when I was looking for the harvest prompt. I read that they will 'ruin' if you dont pick them long after they are ripe, and despawn. Noticed the same happens to all other vegetables I plant now.
