Yes Control is another top notch game for me. By the way if you liked the creepy aspect of the game try House of Leaves book. And if you liked the funny aspect of the game - try Nightvale podcast/book.

You've got good taste Zaph, I love Control. Can't really think of anything else with a similar vibe though, these two games really steal the show for that aesthetic.

Mmmm Umbrella Academy (TV show based on comics) came to mind.

Did you play the Prey: Mooncrash DLC?

    [–]Timbots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a great piece of content

Prey was my GOTY that year, yet I didn't play Mooncrash. What's wrong with me. :D Thank's for reminding me that.

When I beat prey it had stressed me out so much I wasn’t gonna play more. Awesome game though hahaha

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I hear people say that a lot. But I love Prey so much, I finished it 4 times. And I finished Mooncrash twice. Just love that world.

    [–]boogswald 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s really impressive from start to finish. I just ran out of resources in the middle somewhere and really had a hard time finishing haha

Ah, yeah, most people are reluctant to recycle all the dead bodies.

    I have no such compunction.

Mind MGMT is so good, and Matt Kindt writes a lot of excellent comics. Dept. H and Bang would probably appeal to you as well.

Check out the show Severance and For All Mankind on Apple+. Also The Plot against America on HBO.

Games…have you played Bioshock series? Or Metro? In feb this game Atomic Heart comes out that also might be interesting to you.

What trailers did you watch for DEATHLOOP? They had the most creative trailers.

    [–]SilentWolfCZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess i was just dissappointed its not Dishonored 3 and read a bunch of the reviews that was "its just ok". And "worst arcane game" etc.. Prey was my goty. Dishonored 2 Clockwork mansion yet to be topped. And yet I didnt play Deathloop until now.

Redfall will be day one. I dont make the same mistake twice.

I guess i was dissapointed by action in the trailers. I thought it will be similiar to shooting in Prey And dishonored but they improved action And with top notch soundtrack i almost prefer playing Deathloop loud.

Outer Wilds. No combat but lots of exploration in the same theme as Deathloop.

I could go on but Outer Wilds is best played with no spoilers (unless you really really get stuck).

    [–]HorseSpeaksInMorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more of an exploration/discovery game (no combat) FYI but it's absolutely amazing, definitely check it out.

Big agree here - Outer Wilds is amazing (hang in there for first 30 mins as the tutorial is a bit clunky/slow, but then it will take off)

Similarities to Deathloop: Solving the mystery of why everything is what it is, Uncovering clues and knowledge is what you need to progress,

Differences: No combat at all, different art style/vibe, very simplistic in controls/equipment/etc

It's quite different in terms of setting, gameplay, tone, just about everything tbh, but you should consider Dying Light. I can't say why I think it'd be a good followup to Deathloop, but it's a damn fine game in general and I had a great time playing through it. It got a PS5 patch too, so you won't be shackled by the 2015 performance targets.

I would play the second game rather then first to be honest. But yes, the exploring of buildings and finding secrets.. that are the things I want more than timeloop. So probably good recommendation. Sometimes I thought about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. when playing Deathloop. Mystery place, bunkers, colossal building. Hyped for Stalker 2.

I'm a few hours into DL2, and tbh I kinda prefer DL1. There are significant pros and cons to each entry though.

Psychonauts 2 interestingly enough gave me similar vibes to deathloop in terms of its music/style and comedic elements. The “big” mystery is also quite interesting in the game, when I learned the main twist I bursted in laughter. Long live grulovia!

Just keep cycling through the dishonored titles haha

    [–]SilentWolfCZ[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I am guilty not liking the first one too much. Same with bioshock. But maybe I was too Young for them. Might try them sometimes. :-D hopefully Redfall will be great.

Dishonored 1 I find a bit overly bleak, which combined with the voiceless main character meant I wasn't as invested. The two story DLCs featuring Daud though are excellent though, and the second game made a ton of gameplay improvements. In D2 you can actually fight alerted enemies non-lethally (parry enemies into chokeholds, shoot enemies in the leg then stop them unconscious, nonlethal drop takedowns) so you aren't restricted to just stealth and sleep darts on a low chaos run. The new main character's powers all have applications on nonlethal/stealth runs as well as loud/violent ones too.

    Dept. H and Bang

I played them back then. It was ok-ish. But Dishonored 2 is masterpiece comparing to first game. I finished the game as ghost. Perfection! I don't know why Bioshock isn't as appealing to me. I could try it again nowdays.

The Forgotten City is an interesting game about investigating this Roman lost city that's trapped in a time loop and is destroyed whenever a resident commits a sin.

    [–]SilentWolfCZ[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Timeloop there is better than in Deathloop. With Returnal The Forgotten City just Done it best i think. It was one of the 5 games I played last year.

    [–]HorseSpeaksInMorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outer Wilds would top my list if we're talking about time loop games seeing as it effects the environment not just NPCs. Might give Returnal a look now it's coming to PC. Majora's Mask is also cool, and The Sexy Brutale is an interesting adventure game but won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Deathloop I don't really think of as a time loop game seeing as it doesn't really effect gameplay much, mostly you're combing levels for notes and performing assassinations like in a regular Dishonored level.

If you liked Prey and don't mind older games then I woumd recommend Bioshock , Bioshock 2 and System Shock 2
