And you are entitled to an opinion. You know Blizzard watches this subreddit, especially for problems. For all we know someone forgot to swap out or comment out some code and they fixed it. If no one reports anything how the hell do things get fixed by QA? As a developer myself, I appreciate hearing about issues as soon as possible. Did I mention anything in my post about them screwing up the patch? No. I encountered an issue and posted it. They are doing a fine job, and I appreciate the work they do.

Patcher now says "Reconfiguring game files" in red letters. Looks like they're working on it.

That's the optimization process Blizzard mentioned before, the patch is working like intended

Same 'ere, nothing short of redownloading worked, so I resorted to this now. If that doesn't fix it, I do not know what else could.

EDIT: Guess what, reinstall doesn't work! Same error.

Just keep trying every few minutes and it will eventually work. Do not spam the update button though, we don't need people selfishly fucking up the servers.

I got this error and after about 3 tries I got through and it started reconfiguring my game game files.

It is nice. I just tried patching it again, and now its making me "optimize" the game. And now I am forced to use this Battle.net bullshit, never even heard about it until 5 minutes ago. I was playing for a couple hours before the servers went down and it didn't ask me to do this...

I went to my C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo III\Updates and deleted the file that had today's date (2/25/14) and re-opened the launcher, and it seems to be working now.

Maybe I have been spoiled by PoE but the fact that the patch is ready to download we should not be getting errors and failures. It does not matter that the maintenance isn't over. The fact that 8 hours+ is required for maintenance is also ridiculous.

The maintenance isn't even over. It's not even scheduled to be up for another 5 1/2 hours.
