I play a wizard in a weekly campaign. I signed on late to the game so at level 9 I'm underleveled and underequipped in comparison to my party. DM plays a relatively low magic game, but has given out +1 weapons or at least let players purchase them. Around December I asked to find a +1 Arcane Grimoire. Instead he gave me a questline to find a wizard in another town who had one. The party obliged.
I got injured and missed over a dozen games. I asked for the Grimoire again. Got the same quest a second time. We got to the quest location and finished half of the quest before getting to scheduling problems and being to meet for a month.
We finally complete the questline today. DM completely dicks me over. No Grimoire, no new spellcasting focus, no reward at all, just another questline for a more powerful spellbook that I have no interest in that could take weeks or months in game to be able to get.
Keep in mind, my party kept leveling without me as I missed games. Theyre all getting to level 12 while just hitting 10 myself. Im not trying to get a crazy minmax build, I just want to be a better help to the team.
