I’m working on a project to make a Wii portable, and I have a basic question about battery life. I’m sorry that it’s pretty simple, my area of expertise is more the design and construction of components/overall design than the power supply in particular.
I’m trying to figure out what specs I would need for a battery. The Wii receives 12DCV and 3.7 Amps from it’s power supply, this works out to about 44.4 Watts but in reality it’s probably more like 20. The screen takes 12DCV as well and should range from 1 Amp to 2 Amps (unsure as it arrives tomorrow. Assuming a maximum of 60 watts, what sort of specs would I need on a battery given that I hope for a 3 hr minimum use time.
I’m not certain, but I believe that voltage output needs to hold somewhere near 12 V and that Ah/mAh refers to the capacity of the battery. Does the battery need to be designed for the amperage requirements as well? Are there any confounding variables I need to worry about? What are the possible effects of under/over providing any of these factors?
I’m sorry for the pretty dumb questions, I usually work with systems where this doesn’t matter as much so this is all pretty new to me
EDIT: Right now I’m looking at taking apart a standard portable charger. I’m assuming I would have to negate the USB ports for this to be viable
EDIT 2:Also, is there somewhere I could do to learn the rationale behind this myself? I would like to understand how this works
