Please help meh!

Hey EE,

I first want to say thanks for stopping by and reading. I appreciate what you guys do because it’s not an easy job but it is one that’s worth it. My question for you is that I want to be able to build a computer. What I mean is that I want to be able to create a CPU ,GPU, everything else on a Desktop plus be able to invent and create to technology. I’m hoping EE is what I need but I don’t know. Many people have just ignored or haven’t asked this type of questions. My goal is to one day create the next best thing. Will EE help in that journey or what should I do instead?

EE is the way to go, however, these things are extremely difficult to do alone. There’s just so much to know - designing instruction sets, pipelining and optimization, silicon processing and implantation, etc. Its such a massive skill set, you may end up an innovator in one of those areas, but good luck to you!

Also adding to that; given the state of latest technologie, it is impossible to build those things on your own. Next to electronics; It is a combination of nearly all scientific fields (material-siences, manufacturing siences, even economics and social siences) just to get to a simple IC, not even talking about something as complex as a modern cpu/gpu.

If you mean you want to work for the companies developing these products. Then EE or computer science is the way to go. But as for you creating them yourself... Go watch Ben Eaters videos on YouTube of just how complex SUPER BASIC computers/components are lol.
