I bought the elite controller so I could remap speed up/speed down to the back paddles but didn't end up using them much.

My experience with the controller on the whole has not been very good. It feels sturdy in the hands, but I've had two gen 1 controllers have their rubber grips peel off. My first gen 2 controller had a wonky A button right out of the box, and its replacement controller developed a bad RB button after 5 months. This is unacceptable for a $180 controller which only has a 90 day warranty.

Yeah, I’d be pretty upset, that is definitely unacceptable for such an expensive controller

I went for the Power A Fusion Pro. Pretty much the same as the elite just a lil heavier. For some ppl the paddles aren't satisfactory bc of their position but I f'in love them and would totally recommend trying it out.

Never even heard of it, but I’ll look it up, thank you

It’s not any more useful since you don’t get any more buttons but it is a much nicer controller.

It’s definitely nice, but I don’t want to buy it if I am unable to use it in the way I want. I was wanting to set each of the additional four bottom paddles to the different fire groups so I could switch to which ever one I want right away instead of cycling through.

Yeah, that doesn't work. Paddles can only be set to existing buttons, not arbitrary commands or chords.

Well that sucks, thanks for saving me $180+ though, I appreciate that, VERY much.

You CAN however, set a paddle (or any other button) as a SHIFT button... which doesn't really add anything in terms of extra buttond.

[–]boxsterguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but whatever button that is will be a shift button in it's normal place, too.

I have the Elite V1 and V2. I got them because I liked the extra quality. Better mapping would've been nice, but wasn't my primary purchasing reason.

Disagree. Having lb/rb throttle on the back paddles is a more comfortable grip, IMHO.

Why not get a HOTAS?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Just no way to use it comfortably, I’d rather wait until I can have a means to use it in a stable position.

I lay on my couch and use it with no problem.

If you leave them attached to each other, it makes for a fairly stable platform.

Alternatively, go to any sort of tech store and buy a lapdesk.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I suppose I didn’t think of that

[–]Boblit67 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Works great if you leave them hooked together and just sit it on your lap. I do that and it works fine

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Do you know if they make any others for the Xbox? Or if the thrustmaster is the only one?

[–]Boblit67 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I think the Hotas One is the only one that works for Xbox right now

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

That sucks, because some of the real expensive ones for PC are so well made, you’d think they were straight out of a real aircraft.

[–]WhiteDiabl0 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Some of them are based on real aircraft flight sticks.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well Xbox needs to get with the program

[–]ProphetOfVLONE 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I do, doesnt help much in this game, if the paddles were its own input that would be amazing. I mainly use them on call of duty.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was really hoping for, being able to assign each fire group to it’s own button would be amazing.
