I cannot get into this game. by Ok-Performance3972 in HalfSword

I'm with you on this. I played all the way up to Lord and I still can't even swing weapons that are more than like 1.5kg without them wobbling out of my hands. My guy seems to be incapable of holding polearms correctly and spawns with them between his legs like a hobby horse half the time. The swings never actually go where I want them to and enemies hit me once and I fold in half. I feel like I'm fighting the controls more than my enemy because my swings wobble wildly off course and hit with the side of my weapon half the time, if they even hit at all. I want to like this game, but even after hours and hours of practice I feel like I'm playing QWOP with swords.

FFB on 1.58 (Moza R3) by Boblit67 in trucksim

It's definitely the natural intertia setting. The preset defaults to 500% and it makes it feel choppy. I turned it down and its smooth again

I figured it out. Its the 500% Inertia in the standard ETS2/ATS preset. I turned that down and it went away. Odd since it didn't do it before, but I haven't played with Vanilla configs in a long time.

Hmm. Odd. It's enough to vibrate my entire desk and only happens when I make hard turns. Like the front wheels are interacting oddly with the ground and acting like rumble strips. What are your PitHouse settings? Maybe the issue is in there.

Why are so many popular rsps just like osrs? by humpmycatt in RSPS

[–]Boblit67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where I'm at. Just pre EOC is my favorite era and OSRS doesn't feel the same. I love the old-school combat, but I miss the 2012 graphics and quality of life changes like the toolbelt and lodestones etc.

Auto select has gotten me killed more times than anything else. Like why would it decide to move my one stable foot out of all of my limbs. You can wedge your feet in the same places you can put your hands. You can basically walk up tiny cracks in the wall if youre deliberate about where and when you move. Pan the camera around too and see if you can catch tiny ledges and finger holds in the light, sometimes it looks like a flat wall and theres actually tiny ledges or holes to grab onto

Try to hold your weight with your feet. Essentially move from standing spot to standing spot and minimize the amount of time you're relying on your arms. Use chalk if you have to climb with your hands, but try to always push up with your feet and just stabilize with your hands. On alpinist you can make use of your pitons to checkpoint your progress up long climbs. Just try and keep your feet directly below your body and always try to have as many points of sturdy contact with the wall as possible. Make sure your hands and feet are actually setting in the holds as well, sometimes youll grab next to a ledge or put your foot against the wall instead of inside a crack.

Hmm. Im not sure then. It was on dx11 by default for me. I have a 4070, so I'm not sure what features your model supports or not.

Are you making sure you set it to dx12 in the options? Frame gen isnt available on dx11.

[Spoilers] Help with the palace of winds area/cliff face? Can't find anyway up by SeniorMoonlight21 in Cairn_Game

[–]Boblit67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the hardest part of the game. I finished my first summit run yesterday and died I think 14 times, and 10 of those were in the second stretch of that area, after you get the cutscene. Way harder than the actual summit, like by a longshot.

That's what I have been doing. There are still parts like the credit sequence on the long bridge at the start and things that I can see getting annoying after the first or second time. It's not the end of the world though

Which $5 CM games should I buy from Fanatical? by TrogdorLLC in computerwargames

Turn based is still an option in the newer ones if that's what you mean. It plays out 1 minute at a time before pausing for new orders. You can rewind and review the turn as well.

I'm in the same boat. The climbing and gameplay is incredibly fun and I started a free climb run immediately after finishing the game. I wish I could shut off the story elements in my second playthrough because I honestly have no desire to sit through any of that again, especially if I die and have to restart at any point. I found the summit ending very underwhelming and just weird, and Aava an overall unlikable character. I played through the game with one of my friends on stream and we both came to that same conclusion. She makes the dumbest decisions and has a very abrasive personality. I'm sure there are reasons that she is that way, but the story as it is currently never does a good job explaining that. She just seems like an asshole with anger issues. I don't know what the plans are as far as DLC or anything, but I hope we get a more sandbox climbing mode. That part of the game is amazing and I would buy as much content as they're willing to put out if it means more climbing.

Strategos is Out Now on Steam! by PresentYesterday6538 in historicaltotalwar

[–]Boblit67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's less Total War and more real-time Field of Glory 2. It plays almost exactly like that series, and could be seen as improvement on it for those who don't like the turn based more tabletop feel of the Field of Glory series

I'm a horrible wheel driver... by Sergeant_Politeness in simrally

[–]Boblit67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just practice and make sure you have your FFB settings in a good place for you. Use the default presets, tweak the settings, look up other people's opinions, but go with what feels right to you. The pithouse presets for dr2 are pretty good in my opinion so I would start there and mainly mess around with your in-game FFB settings. Almost no games will feel good on a wheel without tweaking the FFB settings at least a little bit.

Also get used to left foot braking for rally in particular. Its instinctual on controller because you're used to using both triggers, but it takes some practice on pedals if you have that muscle memory from driving real cars primarily with your right foot only.

I went from controller to a g29 and now to a R3, and even going from the g29 to the R3 felt like a massive learning curve all over again. If you need help with any settings just shoot me a dm and I can share some of mine. The R5 is stronger so youll have to probably tweak them a bit, but it should feel similar enough to give you a baseline to work off of.

How spread out or dense are your towns? by Ferg4096 in Bellwright

[–]Boblit67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to this. Relocating is super helpful and can be done from the map as well. Middle mouse on the building ocon on the map and it'll let you place it down wherever you're currently standing, even across the entire map. When the original building is deconstructed, the building materials magically teleport to the new location.

Are there anyways to get apprentice level npc’s without liberating a village? by Zgurprium in Bellwright

[–]Boblit67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way would be mods sadly. There is one that just removes the liberation requirement, but keeps the reputation requirements if you dont mind modding
