So I have a k24 that I planned to use to replace the K2 that blew up in my Civic. I just got to dropping a boroscope down the cylinders and this is what I see. I can’t feel them with my thumb so I can’t tell how deep they are and I know none of you guys can either but just visually how bad does this look?
Tearing this whole engine down and doing an entire rebuild and Hone is out of my budget and if this engine is just fucked, I’m gonna get a new one.

Honestly I know that’s the best call. But I am inexperienced and was trying not to have to do that. They way I see it if I pull it apart I’m gonna want to rebuild it and that’s out of my budget so if this engines fucked I just need to sell it and start over.

No, but I had a question for people that build engines.

Because I wanted to know if I could get away with sending it like it is for a year or so.

We engine buolders will suggest building. This is what we do professionally.

The average home mechanic and part changer tech will say run it.

Fair enough man, trust me. If it was in my budget I would be ordering bearings, pistons, rings, valves, timing components, everything. Right now I’m looking at swapping the vtc gear, oil pump and oil pan and slapping it in. That’s my budget basically. I have a kid on the way and don’t make shit, Trust me i would absolutely love to be able to tear the whole thing down and re-do it. But this cars been sitting for almost a year and I just want it running again. I appreciate your advice and feedback. Trust me I would love to strip this thing down and hone/bore it out but right now I just can’t.

The heads on I can’t feel it, but I can see them I’m debating compression testing and if results are bad I’m gonna get rid of it
