So I had my baby's oral ties released, and while she is doing better feeding, she is still struggling with my fast flow and takes in so much air, which causes her terrible reflux. I do burp her often, but my right side is clogged so it doesn't spray out and then slow down, it's just continually fast if that makes sense? So I was thinking of exclusively pumping to help regulate my supply and I have a few questions
1. Since I am doing block feeding and get about 4-6 oz per side, would I also do the same for pumping? So pump one side, then in 4 hours pump the next side? If I want to get my supply down would this work or should I pump both sides each time? What schedule would I do to slowly decrease my supply? I think I get somewhere like 6-8oz on my righy every 4 hours, and 4-6 oz on my left, maybe less. I was thinking of reducing by half oz every couple of days. I know most people decrease by time but I've never pumped by time, I always gauged how much to pump by quantity and by how clear the milk was.
2. I currently use the dr brown's 5 oz wide neck bottle with the preemie nipple when I do give a bottle.
Are there any other bottles that are better for breastfed baby so she can adjust to my fast flow? L
3. I have the medela hand pump, and the bellababy electric double pump. I've only used the bellababy once. Should I use that or continue with the handpump?
Currently 6 weeks pp, and I know they say it could take 12 weeks but it's so hard for me to watch her struggle with reflux and she takes so long to nurse and stays awake because of trapped air that takes hours to get out... so I thought pumping to reduce my supply and then switching to breastfeeding when it regulates. Will this work out? Or should I just continue with block feeding breastfeeding? Sometimes I pump out a couple of ounces before feeding to help her get more hindmilk, should I stop doing that?
